My daughter likes books by Lauren Myracle, E. Lockhart, and Sarah Mlynowski, which are like her generation's Judy Blume books. I have read some of them to know what she is reading, and for good conversation starters, and I also have enjoyed them. She wants to read more by these authors but we can't figure out which books are appropriate for a middle school reader and which would be best to wait until her later high school years. Playdate Etiquette for School Aged Children

Regularly my daughter (age 8) receives calls from classmates for playdates. The caller's parents are usually within earshot while the caller is asking me to have a playdate at OUR house. I find this odd and a bit rude that the parent would allow their child to call and essentially invite themselves over. Skipping a Grade

I am faced with the decision of letting my 7 year (1st Grade) old skip the 2nd grade. He was going to the 2nd grade for reading and math time, so he could continue to learn at his level. He no longer does that due to schedule changes between the 1st grade and 2nd grade. His teacher still gives him 2nd grade work on and he also helps the other kids.
