Hello Mommies I am looking for ideas on where to donate unopened toys and gently (barely touched at all) stuffed animals. The goodwill does not take them and other places seem to charge a $35 pick up fee. Any ideas?

The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund does free pickups of donated items: clothes, toys, baby items, household goods, etc. Here's their website:

I like Room to Grow, which is in Chelsea. Granted it is not downtown per se, but a very nice charity. You might be able to mail the items if you couldn't cab up there.

It is a unique children's and maternity consignment shop located in the heart of Manhattan's East Village. So it wouldn't so much be a donation but it may work out for you.

Did you try Plain Jane a consignment shop on the LES. I am not sure about the exact address, somewhere around B and 2nd street.

Hi H.-
You should try calling daycare centers. They are usually in need of toys.
Hope this helps
