Discovery Toys used to make a Tiger one that roared a little when its mouth opened. Edited to add: they used to make a waterproof one (not Tiger, something else) for the bath.
Hi there! I was wondering, do any of you out there know of an ideal toy flashlight for a toddler. I'm looking for something safe, durable, and maybe something that automatically shuts off if left on and ignored. My 2-and-a-half year old daughter loves shining our grown-up flashlight on everything lately :) Many thanks for any ideas you have. *Peace*! :)
Hi everyone! I wanted you to know I just ordered the Rex flashlight (Toy Story 3) from Fisher Price. I'll write back again when we get it to let you know how my daughter likes it. Many Thanks for your wonderful ideas! *Peace*! :)

little tykes makes animal flashlights -- shine through their mouths. very cute and shut off automatically
My daughter - now 15.5 - still has a Little Tikes tiger flashlight that roars when you turn it on. She takes it to camps. She LOVES that silly thing! It works great, too!

Hi my son loves anything flashlight so he has a few toys of this nature. Wiggles has a car that has music and also is a flashlight in a form of a car, thomas too, makes a choo choo noise and it's a flashlight as well, I also found a regular flashlight from bed bath and beyond that you can replace the front end piece and it can have a pic of different animals, it's great, it's educational too, when all the lights are out, it's great he can really see the animals that way from the light.
I know there is a Handy Manny "Flikr" one that I think shuts off. My son has a "Rex" from Toy Story that when you open his mouth it is a flashlight and he makes some sounds. When the mouth closes light goes off. They had a couple different characters but got it this summer so not sure if they still have it. Got it at Target.
Fisher Price has some shaped like animals. I think the ones out now are based on the Toy Story characters. My daughter has a horse one. You squeeze their tails to open their mouths and make the light shine. The light is only one when the tail is squeezed. Our horse makes horse sounds when the mouth first opens. They cost about $10.
Fisher Price makes some great ones. Ours is a scarecrow. You squeeze the handle and the light comes on and the mouth opens. It shuts off on its own after a while and its been thrown down the stairs and is still kicking.
I gave my kids a crank flashlight it does not use batteries it runs off the crank so that is nice
We have a purple bird, I think it's Fisher Price, that when you squeeze it's tail it's mouth opens, it sings a little 3 second song, and the light comes on. When you let go of the tail the light goes off. It's really cute and my almost-two-year-old loves giving us a light show on the ceiling at bedtime.
