I'm interested in signing my 4-year-old daughter up for dance lessons. Have any of you had experience with DeMaira Dance Studios or Academy of Movement and Dance, or could you recommend any other dance studios near Oak Park? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Check out Ballet Legere. It's in River Forest on North Ave. just west of Harlem. My sister is in high school and has been dancing there for years. They have wonderful performances that we've been enjoying for years too! They have a wide variety of dance classes offered.

From what I understand, the Academy of Movement and Dance is for girls who want to take dance seriously and stick with it. The park district has dance classes too if you don't know how well your daughter will like dancing, it may be a good trial run.

My daughter loved having Kathy DeMaira as her dance instructor from the age of 4 to 17. Most of our experience with her was at the Dance Academy on Irving Park and then most recently at Kathy's own studio in Oak Park. I was always impressed with how her students adore her. She definitely has a love for children and teaching dance.
