15 Month Old Not Waving or Clapping

My son is not clapping or waving goodbye. Should I be concerned? He has only waived bye and said bye 2-3 times sporadically. Otherwise he is a very happy, well adjusted little boy who has hit all other milestones including talking up a storm!

5Th Girl B-day Party

Does anyone have any ideas for a 5 yr old b-day party, on a conservative budget @ home? Games, activities? We have a clubhouse w/ swings, slide & a sandbox, but I wondered what other ideas you may have. Last year we had a great scavenger hunt & it went very well. Thanks for your help :o)

How to Teach Spanish to My Boys When I Don't Speak It!

I really want my 3 year old twins and my 6 year old to learn another language. Now is the time. I speak a little broken spanish from high school. I'd love for them to learn. I've started looking into spanish immersion preschools, dvd/cd programs. There's nothing like speaking the language though! I've thought about getting a spanish speaking babysitter a few times a week. I'm a SAHM so I'm on a budget. Before I commit to one or more of these ideas and go for it, I just want some advice on what would be the best direction to take. I'd be...

What Age Should a Child Recognize Letters and Numbers??

I will try to not go into as much detail as I could! My son will be 4 in April and he has been in a school/daycare since he was 2. He just got his annual observation and he meets and exceeds in all areas of educational and social development except for letter and number recognition. I have known this of course because at home I also try to teach him and he has never been able to name them. I have alphabet and number puzzles, books, flash cards etc... He knows only 4 letters and has for a long time. There was something about them that...

When to Get a Bike?

My daughter is 2, but she is about 31 1/2" tall. We know she is too short for a 12" bike, but I'm wondering how tall is tall enough for these bikes? She always wants one when we are in the store, but of course we can't get it because she is too short. Is there an approximate height that we need to wait for? I don't to keep trying out the bikes in the store & disappointing her every time if she is going to be too short for a while! I read a review from a parent that felt the kid should be at least 37" to ride the bike. By that height, my...

Challenges at Bath Time

I have a 17 mo daughter who went from one day loving her bath (at a yr old) to now crying hysterically every time she gets in the bath. We've always only bathed her twice a week due to eczema patches on shoulders/back, after the change we started bathing her in the kitchen sink again but it requires two of us to do it (one to hold her over the sink during the hair washing phase)and she still cries. When my husband went out of town for a week, I put her in the bath. She still cries hysterically but it needs to get done! I've gotten lots of...
