Just Turned 1 and Won't Wear Walking Shoes

Hello everyone, My daughter has been walking with assistance for the last month or so. She is recently taking a few steps, very cautiously. I've read that the best way to learn how to walk is barefoot or very soft soled shoes. I've used the target equivalent of the Bobux shoes if she needs the warmth. My sister in law is a firm believer in "walking shoes" from Stride Rite, so she bought her a pair for her birthday. My daughter cried/screamed the whole time she had them on her feet at the store.
