So What Happened?

So short /e/ as in elephant... not "E" as in the name of the letter after d.

My daughter and her friends (ages 19-20) LOVE that site.

Daughter has made many purchases and not once has had an issue with anything.

In one case, before her Freshman year of college, she ordered a twin monogrammed duvet cover. We found out shortly before school started that the dorm rooms were not ready and we ended up buying her a condo near by. So, she emailed the lady who was making the duvet cover and unfortunately she has just mailed the product to my daughter. She told my daughter to take the pillow sham out of the package and send the twin back to her along with $75 and she would create a Queen. She did just that plus sent 2 extra shams and it is beautiful!

She has received great customer service from everyone she orders from. She likes monogrammed things and has a monogrammed car tag, window sticker, backpack that is on year #2 as well as some jewelry pieces.

I think it is pronounced ET-see but I may be wrong.

Rhymes with set-see.
Made several purchases and have even sold through a shop of my own on that site!
Look at the feedback/reviews, it's just like ebay, if the shop/person has great reviews you likely won't be disappointed.
I have purchased jewelry, soap, candles, craft supplies, holiday/party décor, cases for my kindle, laptop, etc. and have been WAY more pleased and impressed than with the (Chinese) mass produced junk you get at the discount stores.

eht-see

I've bought many things on Etsy (homeschool supplies, costumes, quilts, jewelry, craft supplies) and my rough estimate is about 1/2 were wonderful, 1/4 were good/ok quality/workmanship, and 1/4 were awful.

A good place to start is to read reviews and see how many things the person or shop has sold.

ETA: Etsy's website explains is better than my phonetic spelling: "Betsy without the B"

I thought it was ET-See too.

I've bought a couple of things and have been very happy with them but of course it is going to depend on what you buy and who you are buying from. I've bought personalized closet organizers and my favorite thing I bought was a personalized planner.

If your item is not what it's supposed to be go through etsy and complain.

I've made a few purchases off of Etsy, but no more. The first couple of purchases were ok, but more cheaply made than I expected. I have gotten a couple of things that I was very pleased with. However, the last purchase I made took almost a month to get to me and was not well made at all. The seller said it was lost in the mail and said she would have to make another one. It turns out the first one wasn't lost in the mail, she just never shipped it. The package I received a month late had the same tracking number as the supposed first shipment and the date showed she didn't send it until after I contacted her wondering where it was. I left a negative review indicating the facts about the tracking number and dates and Etsy removed the review without any notice. I only found out later when I was reading additional reviews after mine and my review wasn't present. Etsy's explanation was that since I had mentioned the shipping as the reason for my negative review, it had to be removed since the seller cannot control a shipper. Other people who left positive reviews indicating their item was lost in the mail were left on there, but not a single negative review was there. If I can't trust a company to leave honest negative reviews present, they won't get my business anymore.
