Lochia After Delivery

Just wondering how long is normal for bleeding after delivery. I delivered 2 weeks ago and still have some bleeding, although it is much lighter in flow and more of a brownish color instead of bright red. Should this last for more than 2 weeks?

What can I do next?

I experienced bleeding for approx. 6 weeks after delivery. After the first few weeks, it was minimal, but it was still there. I was even fortunate enough to have an easy delivery....no stitches or hemrrhoids.

I only bled about a week with my first 2 then 6 weeks with my third. Hopefully, the brownish means that you are at the end and almost done!

Congrats on your new little one!! With both of mine I stopped bleeding before my 6 week check-up. Although, my dr. said his wife was still bleeding at her 6 week check up. It sounds like your bleeding should be done in the next week or so. Good luck! :o)

In My personal experience It lingers if you are breastfeeding. When breastfeeding your uterus contracts thus causing small amounts of bloody show. With my last delivery It took over a month for the "bloody Show" to g o away.

I was told 6 weeks in normal. I had red then brown flow for 7 weeks (just spotting in the end). And it never turned white/yellow like they said it would. I think everyone is different. But you are still well within the 4-6 week range!

Yes, it is normal. After my first I still bled after 5 weeks, and after my second for almost 4 weeks. I have had friends who are still spotting at their 6 week check up. Relax, and enjoy your new little one, it just takes time!!

oh yeah, esp if its the lighter brown. it def sounds like its the end. i know some people that bled for 6 weeks.

i normally have my period for 5-6 days so i would think having a baby would take a bit longer.

Hi - Mine was about 6 weeks for both kids, because I remember still having some spotting at my 6-week checkup. It wasn't really red spotting. It was more like tan-ish discolored discharge.

It can vary from woman to woman. I bled for 3 months after I delivered my daughter. Although I can't take birth control due to a blood clotting disorder. So I'm not sure if that would make a difference. But my doctor wasn't concerned since I was still in the "normal" window.

Hope this helps.

after my two deliveries, it was between 4-6 weeks before it completely stopped. It seems like forever but FINALLY it stops!

Up to 6 weeks is normal. Less than 3-4 weeks is lucky!

Yes. A lot of women bleed on and off for upwards of 4 weeks. If you're worried, call your doctor, but it sounds pretty normal.

You got a lot of responses already but I bled for a solid 6 weeks with all three of my kids and then it started tapering off. Everybody is different but I have read that I think 4-6 weeks is the norm.
Congratulations on the little one!

4 - 6 weeks with the first 3 and 9 with the 4th. All of mine were c-sects also, but I am not sure that made a difference.
