Im wondering how long you normally bleed (lochia- vaginal flow) after c-section? I still have varying amounts after 27 days. Whats normal?

What can I do next?

I bled on and off for 8 weeks with varying amounts. I went a week stretch in there w/ no blood at all. I just kept pads on the whole 8 weeks just in case.

I remember bleeding for a little over 4 weeks. I was also concerned as you are now and so I asked my dr. about it. He said that it was completely normal. Good luck!

I could be wrong, but I think you can bleed for up to six weeks after... I bleed for four weeks and then at week six my period started.

Whether I had natural childbirth or C-section, I always had a flow for six weeks. Four to six weeks is normal. More than six weeks, see your doctor.

After my first it was about a week. After my second it was over 2 months. The bleeding would totally stop, then come back with out warning. That wasn't fun! I had my doc check at my 6 week and he said it was perfectly normal. If the blood flow is heavy (soaking a pad in an hour) or if you're passing large clots, call your doctor. My bleeding seemed to come back if I over did myself. If I sat down and relaxed, the bleeding would normally slow down or stop.

I to had 3 c-sections and was bleeding for roughly 6wks. thereafter. Sometimes heavier than other days. If you are concerned see the OBGYN who did your surgery. I'm assuming you will be taking the little one in for a check up soon, I'm sure you will get your answer then.
Take care,

You should expect some bleeding for up to six weeks, but it gets much, much lighter as time goes on.

My Dr says your doing to much when your still seeing red blood. They told me no stairs for the first couple of weeks. And to take it easy even after that.

I have had both my children c- sections. With both I too had varying degrees of blood flow during the first few months afterward. it took about 4 months for me to get back to normal. I would suggest going back to your physician to make sure that this is normal for you. Hope all will heal properly for you! Take care!

Congratulations on the birth of your child J.!! I bled for about 6 weeks and then if I over did it I started bleeding again. That went on for awhile as well. If in doubt, always call your OB and ask him/her.

Enjoy your little one!

My first son was a c-section. I bled for 12 weeks. My doctor said it was unusual but not unheard of and she wasn't concerned.

My second son was VBAC - vaginal birth after c-section. I bled for about a month and that was it.

It can really vary. If you are concerned, ask your doctor.
