My Son Has Become Constantly Sick

It is very difficult to get back to normal one when thing happens after the other. This happened to me recently. I'm very healthy and never get sick. But I did get some of the nasty stuff going around and it just lead into a long, back to back illness with lots of different things going on. Well I came here asking about it and shortly after others did too. Since I have run into SEVERAL others that have reported the same EXACT symptoms appearing in the same order. Your son sounds like he has had very similar symptoms with the exception of his tonsils getting as bad as they did. But, my oldest daughter became ill around the same time I did. She had all the same symptoms with the exception of the same thing your son has gone through. Her tonsils were in bad shape and they threatened taking them. The didn't want to because of her age. She's better now. I am completely normal. One lady I met said they are about to send her to neurologist because they had run out of ideas. But it also sounds like she is at the tail end of it and coming out of it.

I think the crud people are passing around is some viruses that have mutated and are just hitting various people in various ways. It was a BAD season for sickness.

Sounds like he should get a full blood work-up and be tested for every infection and virus under the sun. Make sure the doctor knows how serious this is and how long he has been suffering. In my experience, you have to be bleeding out your eyeballs before a doctor will even listen to you. Insist on some treatment. Insist on some resolution to this. Good luck. It sounds just awful.

Have you seen an ENT? Does he need to have his tonsils removed? Has his pediatrician done blood tests? I have learned that you really have to advocate for your children when you feel instinctively that something is not right. I have often had the doctors tell me everything was fine, but my intuition told me it wasn't...every time, I was correct. Keep advocating for them to continue looking until they find something to make him healthy!!

I missed 3 months of school in the 1st grade, I had allergies, but my mom didn't know that right off the bat. Maybe you should inquire about that while your at the dr.

When I was about his age, I was sick for 2 years(and had to be tutored because I missed so much school)with Tonsillitis before they finally removed them, and then I was fine! I ran high fevers, sore throats, ear aches, and vomiting. I know Strep and MONO can exhibit similar symptoms. Be sure to push them to test for all the possibilites! I hate to push removing tonsils, but I am a fan of getting them out if the illness is chronic! Good luck!
