Infant First Flight

Hi Moms! We are taking our 3 month old son on his first flight. I don't have one specific question, but am more just looking for advice. I am a little concerned about his ears, if anyone has anything to share about helping with pressure change that would be great. I also am looking for a decent travel bottle warmer. Any advice on these two topics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance!

Baby Can't Stay Latched on and Seems to Need More Milk than I Can Provide

I have a 3 month old baby girl and for the past week she doesn't seem to want to stay on my breasts. She would latch on, suck a few times, then come off. I have tried nursing her in different positions but she still continues to latch on and off. Does anyone have any idea why my baby would be doing this? Any advice on how to help her to stay latched on? Also, for the past week after nursing her on both breasts, she is still hungry. She would root, cry, move her head left and right, and when I put my finger next to her mouth, she...

Air Travel Tips W/ Infant

I need airplane travel advice…my husband will be on the plane 5 hours (not including checking in) with my 3 1/2 month baby whom I am nursing. We will be sitting in regular class and we did not purchase a ticket for our baby, since she flies for free. The airline knows that she will be on the flight. Should we ask for specific seating? Does the airline have to provide special accommodations? Where would we change her diaper -do they have a changing table in the restroom? We were thinking of just bringing our Ergo (backpack carrier)...

Infant with Gas

My 2 month old son has been suffering from long periods of excessive gas--especially in the evenings. It's severe enough that it keeps him from going to sleep and repeatedly wakes him (often partially, sometimes completely). It has interfered with nursing on a couple of occasions--he was "starving" (as all babies are when hungry ^_^), but had to disengage to pass gas so frequently that he couldn't nurse! The gas is obviously painful--he starts screaming as he feels it coming and really strains to pass it and sometimes screams even more...

Bottle-Fed 6 Month Old

My 6.5 month old has been bottle fed since 2 weeks old. We use the Avent bottles. We've tried to switch to the "3" nipple flow since he was 3 months, without success. It worked for awhile at around 5 months, but then he got a cold and had trouble breathing and eating and would either fight off the bottle, cough or cry so we switched back to the "2". Not only is it taking forever to feed him but he gets frustrated with eating and cries to push the bottle away. Then when we try again, he'll fight it off over and over until it works for...

Baby Has Infection or Just a Cold? Natural Remedies to Help?

My son is 15 months old and has had a cold most of the winter. It seems like his nose has been runny except for maybe a total of a 10 days or so, for the whole winter! I've thought is was just many colds kind of running together so I couldn't tell the end of one from the beginning of a new one. The thing that has me debating about taking him to the dr. is that the discharge is yellow/green about half the time. Could this be an infection? He seems happy and otherwise healthy. No other symptoms to speak of. Does anyone have any advice?...

Allergic to Enfamil?

My 3 month old has had feeding issues since he was a month old. He gets a stomach ache/cramps/gas and has bad reflux and nothing helped. Suspected milk allergy, switched to Enfamil Nutramigen but didn't seem to get much better. Tried Similac Alimentum and saw a huge improvement after a week. But if we give him the Enfamil, all his symptoms come back. Belly ache, cramping, gas, reflux gets worse and he chokes/aspirates and spits up all day. He is super fussy and cranky. He fights sleep during the day and wakes up more through the night. He...

Infant with Reflux

I have a almost 5 month old baby boy with reflux. He was born 13 weeks early. The doctor has him on previcid and it has not seemed to work. We have him on the Similic Advance formula. He does ok the first half of his feed, then the rest of his feed he will fight eating. Sometimes after he burps it gets better. He spits up after almost every feed. He is gaining weight. I was wondering if anyone else has had these problems and what worked for you. I am thinking of calling the doctor and putting him on a different formula. He also will cry...

What's a Item You Used for Your Baby That You Couldn't Live Without??

HI MAMMA'S! I'm a soon-to-be 1st time gramma and wanted to make sure my daughter had some great things to help her transition into parenthood with the new baby. Is there something you received as a gift or bought yourself that really helped your sanity those first few months?? I bought her a cotton swaddler for the baby from target as I hear that swaddling is the thing to do to help a baby sleep better. (wish I would have known that back when she was little.. I wrapped her in a blanket but it wasn't like these swaddlers out now.. and...

Enfamil Next Step Formula

My daughter just turned 9 months old today. She has been on Enfamil's AR Lipil formula since she was 4 months. I was recommended this formula by her pediatrician because she had acid reflux and spit up ALOT. Anyways, I feel that her acid reflux is gone and I noticed the last time I was at the grocery store that Enfamil has a formula called Next Step for ages 9-12 months. Has anyone tried this formula? Should I switch?

Can I Wean off Formula Before 12Months? Enfamil Death Has My Anxiety at 11

Okay so I fully understand that doctors recommend waiting until child is at least 1 years of age before starting cows milk. But what i'm realizing (now that ive been a mommy for 8 months) is that these aren't strict rules. For instance, I thought if my baby ate any mashed potatoes from the table cooked with butter and milk she'd die. Now, I realize that she likes chicken fettucini, granola, blueberries, and everything else i'm eating. And, she's still her!. She eats a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains all prepared by me....
