Infant Massage or Chiropractic

My sister has a 3mth old little boy with colic and was reading that infant massage and chiropractic help with this. Does anyone know of someone who does this, or has anyone tried this before? She would appreciate any info on this matter.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

thanks for your great advice my sister has an appointment with a chiropractor today.

I have experience with this, as well and I have taken both of my boys to a chiropractor since they were born. I also work for them and could get you in for a free consultation if you would like to talk with him. He is board certified in Pediatrics for Chiropractic. If you would like more information, send me an e-mail. (They are located in St. Louis Park)

Yes definitely. A chiropractor can help tremendously. Also, you could find her a book on infant massage and give her some baby oil to go with it. Chances are, someone at the hospital on the Physical Therapy unit could give her some infant-massage lessons. That's what they did for me when I had my first baby, before I left the hospital.

Call Chiro's in your area, see if they treat infants I DOES HELP!!! I have seen it work.

I love, love my chiropractor & have trusted him with my daughter. If your sister lives in Des Moines, tell her to call Dr. Brett Rohlfsen at Rolfsen Chiro. Their number is ###-###-####. I was in a serious car accident years ago & only 2 chiros my entire life have known enough to help me. He is awesome with kids & his staff are great. They are in West Des Moines.

I worked many years in a chiropractic office and saw the amazement of mothers after their child was adjusted and started to sleep for long lengths of time for the first time in their lives and their crying spells lessened considerably. I worked for Dr Jo at Family Chiropractic in Brooklyn Park but there are others that work in on infants. Just ask friends or call clinics and ask their experience with infants. I can also give you names of people who give infant massage if you e-mail me separately.

I completely agree with what Christin B said re: the combination of chiropractic and craniosacral therapy. We do both for our kids and feel both benefit the kids in different ways. Our youngest daughter's colic showed the most improvment after we added CS therapy. Good luck.

Hi Crystal,

Not sure what part of the metro you are in, but Health and Healing Family Chriropractic in Andover is wonderful. They have tons of kids from newborns on up as patients. I take my kids there and the Dr's. are wonderful!

I absolutely whole-heartedly believe that a combination of chiropractic treatments and craniosacral therapy helped my baby in ways I couldn't have even imagined or hoped for. I absolutely would go down this route, tell your sister to definitely give it a try. I had amazing results. I would recommend that your sister check into craniosacral therapy as well, it seemed to help my little girl even more than the chiropractic treatments - my chiropractor was the one that referred me to the craniosacral therapist in my area.

You might want to have them ask their clinic, pediatrician or health insurance provider about infant massage. When my son was colicky (a long time ago now) we took an infant massage class that I found out about through our health insurance provider. It didn't help my son, but it didn't hurt either and it made me feel like I was doing something. White noise and a baby sling can be helpful.
