Cry It Out Method

I'm just wondering about this method. My six month old just started having a hard time going to bed. He's in his cradle still and out growing it fast, I would like to put him in his own room in his crib. Can You Get a Child to Sleep WITHOUT Letting Them Cry It Out?

I have a 7 month old. She started sleeping through the night at a few weeks old. I would nurse until she fell asleep lay her down in her crib and she would sleep until the next morning. That worked great until about three months old. Now everytime I lay her down she wakes up. I don't believe in letting her cry it out, but I need to do something!
