I purchased the no cry sleep solution book. I am wondering if anyone has used this method and how successful was it? Any tips, suggestions?

What can I do next?

I have read and used the advice from The No-Cry Sleep Solution, with great success. I really love her approach, including helping you, the parent, evaluate the needs and desires of the family. She also has very sound information about what is *normal* and *healthy* for children at various ages. I find the range of recommendations and "solutions" to be quite handy in addressing the various situations a parent might find herself in.

I hope it's helpful for you, as well!

As a fellow twin mom, my advice is to remember to age adjust for your twins. What's normal for them at a particular age is going to be different than for full-term singletons. I think around 9 months, the boys' pediatrician said we could stop age-adjusting because they were hitting the standard milestones at that point. The good news is, once my boys hit about 10 pounds they started sleeping about 6-7 hours at night. It was great!

I read the book when I had my daughter but she was so easy she slept through the night on her own when she was 3 months old. My son was born 5 weeks premature and is a completley different story. I am about to being the sleep training with him because I am very tired! I have heard wonderful things about the book and it is definately better than crying it out. Good luck!

This book was wonderful for me with my youngest child. I had tried the cry-it-out method with my middle daughter and, although it worked and she began sleeping through the night within a couple of weeks, it broke my heart to hear her cry those first few nights, sometimes for as long as an hour and half! I vowed I would never do that again. I bought the 'No Cry' book when my youngest was about the age your twins are now. I followed her advice for younger babies and then started the 'sleep training' when she was about 5 1/2 months. She was sleeping through the night by the time she was 6 months old and she never cried! She is now the best sleeper of my 3 children. I wish I'd had this book for my other 2! It really saved my sanity. I think I felt less tired just knowing I was being proactive and doing something about my situation. You really don't have to do EVERYTHING the books says, just read through it and choose the methods that you think will work for you. (I didn't keep a sleep log-too much trouble.) You can always add more if you find you aren't having the success you'd like. You will probably have double the difficulty with twins, but if you stick with it, I believe it will work for you. Good luck!

I think it's a good book for an overview of sleep solutions. You just have to choose one or more strategies that are best for your family. Lots of ideas can help your child get a better sleep but nothing really cures never waking up in the middle of the night though it does improve with age. I had a premature child too and due to weight, he still woke up once or twice a night to feed and my doctor said that was fine.

I got it and it worked very well for my first son. It helped with my second son only he doesn't handle change well so it took longer. Seems to be working with my daughter too. :)

The only suggestion I have is to definitely keep the logs and follow your plan (maybe even write it down) and to be patient it isn't something that works in a day or two.

Good Luck. I think there is a yahoo group for it too.
