Threading My Sewing Machine Help

I have an ancient "Mason" sewing machine & I havent used it forever. I can not remember how to thread the damn thing! From the spool, to some circular thing on top, to the tension, there a little guider, and up and down thingy with a hole, down to the needle... I dont know the names of the parts I have to thread through, but it seems pretty standard, it looks the same as another ancient I used to have, a Singer from 1967. It was always common sense on how to thread it, but now Im drawing a huge blank. Can someone please help, I need to get this ring cushion made for my upcoming wedding in 4 weeks! The bobbin has thread, thankfully its white, because I cant recall how to rethread that either. (I think the little knob on top is to thread the bobbin...)

What can I do next?

Check out your local fabric store and see if anyone there has a minute to guide you through it (in person would be so much better) Most of the ladies are more than happy to help! Some fabric stores even have classes, but I doubt you'll need that. Just ask one of them if you can watch them thread a machine.

I'm not familiar w/the mason brand but have you tried to look up the model online? A lot of times you can find the handbook on a website or maybe looking up 'threading instructions for mason sewing machine' or maybe 'how to thread a mason sewing machine'. I have a Singer & the circular thing on mine goes counter-clockwise then down then up through the tension then back down thru a 'sqiggle' looking thing then back thru a little hook then back into the needle from the front side so maybe that will give you something you can try. Try on a scrap piece first to make sure it sews right before using on the actual fabric. Hope this helps!

Can you google your machine model? That would give you better instructions.

Google the brand and model of your sewing machine. You will find threading guides on line. I recently found one for an ancient Singer for my girlfriend. There are websites that have both the threading guides as well as the manuals on line. Good Luck, L.

PS - If you can't find it, take a photo and email it to me and I will draw the threading schematic and email it back!

search online! every machine is different, and you need to get the tension right.

There should be a diagram online. Most of them are pretty similar.

One thing (and someone correct me if I'm wrong), on most machines, is when you get to the needle, you have to thread if from the outside to the inside. That's important, it won't work the other way.

Funny.
I finally got out my sewing machine yesterday (I am new to sewing) and had to re-learn everything too. I had to thread a bobbin even, because I needed all black and that wasn't what was in it. :( But I got it worked out, thanks to the booklet/manual that came with the machine. (Mine is a Husqvarna)

Have you tried the Mason website to see if there are any helpful illustrations or a manual you can download, or a FAQ link?
