Hello, My 9month old is teething. His bottom teeth have came through but the problem is they keep coming and going back in. Obviously they are hurting him. He chews on things but I am not sure what else I can do for him. I do give him some pain relievers but I hate to keep giving it to him. Any suggestions would be nice.

What can I do next?

Hi! I have an 8 month old who is teething like crazy too! I have a few tricks that I use. 1. I rub Melaleuca Oil(I can tell you more about that later) on his gums-it only take a trace ammount but it works better than anything! 2. He loves to gnaw on fabric-I found a great teething blanket, made my Munchkin. 3. Teething rings don't work but frozen bananas do-I freeze banana chunks and put them in a mesh teether for foods also made my Munchkin, it is messy but he loves it!

Orajel never worked for me, the best thing I found was rubbing childrens benadryl on the gums (don't worry, they don't really ingest any of it). Also, try frozen bagels cut in half for teething.

When my daughter was teething...I would take a soft wash cloth, wet it and put it in the freezer for a little while. I would give it to her to chew on and she loved it, it made her teeth feel much better. I would also use a little bit of orajel to numb her gums at night time.

Hylands Teething Tablets are a great thing to use. They are all natural and you can give as much as you need- can't overdose! You can also do frozen fruits for him to chew on.

I've always had good luck with OTC teething tablets, they slightly numb the gums so that they don't hurt and it's better than the teething gel because you just pop 2-3 tablets in their mouths and they disolve where with the gel you actually have to try and rub it on their gums, which is hard to do. most stores carry the teething tablets next to the teething gel.

Something I've used with all 4 of my kids are teething tablets. They are homeopathic, so aren't absorbed into the blood stream like a pain reliever. It helps calm the child and lessen the pain. It works wonders with my kids. You can find it under the brand name of Hyland's at pretty much any store. You may need to ask someone to help you find it as the bottle is sometimes hard to spot on a shelf. I get mine at Walgreens or Walmart or Meijer. I've also noticed that our local health food store carries them! Hope that helps!

If he will let you, rub his gums just with your finger with just a little pressure. My daughter still seems to like this. I used the cold things when her first two teeth came in but now she just got her 6th (also 9 months old!) and the cold seems to bother her teeth. I have really sensitive teeth, so I can relate. I hope you find what works for you. Good luck- those first ones are the worst...until the 1 yr molars so I've heard.

Keep the up with the tylenol and ibuprofen (I'm a mom and a pharmacist), but what also worked for was freezer ice pops;cold, sweet, soothing. Your little guy can gnaw on them w/out too much mess. MCM Rph

I used these little tiny baby tablets that I stuck in my sons mouth and they dissolved. Hylands Teething Tablets. They relieved the pain pretty quickly. I also got a couple of those rings that look like they have the liquid in them (from the baby section) and I would keep it in the fridge, then I would let him suck on it and the cold felt good in his mouth. Good Luck, I know how bad it is when you felt like you cant do anything for him.

my daughter loved a wet washcloth! it's hard enough, yet soft enough. i even soaked it in a water/appljuice mix, talk about heaven! she loved it. i stayed away from the pain relievers until night time, if at all. i did give my daughter those teething tablets, but she ended up with a double mouth infection. if you use them, be very careful.

One of the tricks my Mom tought me was to prepare a little bag of Camomile tea and put it in the freezer. Once it's nice and cold place it on your baby's gums. This helps a lot with soothing. Now another trick I picked up along the way is to give them a little green onion so they could chew on (that is if your baby is not allergic to anything). I hope this advice is helpful.

Most Walmart stores carry something called Teathing Tables. They are in a little bottle that has blue and pink on it. They are all natural and have some type of calming effect on the child. I used to swear by them and a cold wash cloth. My Doc always said "If you have an ache you take something for it don't you?". He also told me that I could alternate the tylenol with the Ibuprofen to break it up a little. You should ask your Doc before doing this but my kids lived through it. Teathing is so hard!

I gave my son Hylands teething tablets. I could only find them at K-mart though. There not very expensive,he loved taking them, there 100% natural,No side effects, there dissolveable and the best part is they work. Whenever my son was in pain I'd give him that and that was all he needed. Hope this helps

We found that it you take Benadryl and dip your finger in and rub it on their gums it helps with the inflamation. It really seemed to help my kids and I did not have to give them medicine.

It's been awhile since I have had to deal with this issue, but we used baby orajel and my youngest daughter also like to have her pacifier but in the freezer and then she would chew on it. When it needed to go back into the freezer she would show me and eventually she started moving the chair next to the fridge and put it in the freezer herself at 15 months of age.

Let him chew on washclothes that you put in the freezer. the cold usually helps. They make teething tablets which are homeopathic (Not medicine) which works fast and I think their a miricle! They are tiny. They disolve quickly and they dont have much of a taste. Also put teething rings etc in the fridge or freezer and then give them to him. That worked for me hun. Good Luck!
