Cooking Bday Party

I like the idea of contacting one of the culinary arts school. I was going to suggest contacting Frozen in Thyme, in Webster. During the summer they put on cooking camps for kids, so they probably have someone on staff who might be willing to do a private birthday party. Good luck!

I don't have a concrete contact, but have an idea. Try contacting the Art Institute of Houston. They have a culinary arts program and you may be able to post something in the school for a student to hire. There are some other culinary programs in town, but I think these people would be the most helpful.

Another resource near you is San Jacinto College North (just across the ship channel). I have been impressed by the culinary arts department which has catered some events I've attended. They may have a student who would enjoy sharing their talents with your daughter and her friends. Generally, students don't have full-time jobs and would be eager for the opportunity to make some money sharing their passion.

You could try contacting Michaels about doing a one-day Wilton cake decorating class or asking for the phone number of their Wilton teacher.
