I have a new baby girl (6 1/2 weeks) and a 7 1/2 year old boy. I am trying to remember how fast my son's feet grew, but it was so long ago that I just don't remember! Can some of the Mamas out there with young kids tell me (1) how old your kids are and (2)what size shoes they wear? I am looking for up to about 1 1/2 years old. I realize that all kids will grow at different rates, but I am just looking for a general idea. I try to but most things at mom2mom sales, garage sales or on clearance, so I often am buying ahead of time and I don't want to buy sandals and have her be that size in January or get boots that she can't fit until next June! I do realize that at her age she doesn't really NEED shoes and she will wear just socks or go barefoot when she is learning to walk, but I will want them on occasion.

TIA!!!!

What can I do next?

Every kid is different, even in the same family, so I don't think you can predict it.

I have a nine month old boy in size 4
i have a 2 1/2 yr old girl in size 8

both came out in size one BUT i have big feet so i expected them to grow big feet. I wear size 9 myself. Now i know an 8 month old who maybe is in a size 2 his feet are VERY tiny but neither parents of the bow have big feet.

so in 9 months my son grew 3 shoe sizes and in 2 1/2 yrs my daughter grew 7 shoe sizes. my daughter @ 15 months was in a 4. yes every child is different but they get there big or little feet from u so thats something to think about.

My daughter will be 4 in 2 months and wears an 8 (I think). She's worn flip flops ALL summer! And my 14 month old wears a size 3. I think they have small feet for their ages though because my friends kids close in age wear bigger shoes.

My daughter is 15 months old and wears a 6 in most shoes, but a 5 in sandals because I like them to fit shorter since they have an open toe. By the time she was 6 months old, she was already in a 4...but I think, in general, she has big feet. :)

Oh my gosh...after reading the other answers...I have bigfoot! :) I knew her feet were big, but wow... :)

And she gets it from her dad. I only wear a 7. (I fib. I wore a 7 before children. Now I wear an 8.)

My girls feet were much smaller than my son's at the same ages. Boy's feet are bigger in general I think, so you may not be able to gauge your daughter's shoe sizes based on what your son wore anyway. I had one daughter that wore a size 4 at a year, and one that wore a size 2 at a year. I think you will just have to buy as you go, or buy when you see a cute pair at a garage sale, or good deal on clearance and hope she will fit them in the right season and if donate them to a good charity or friend and know that you weren't out a bunch of money since you didn't pay much for them anyway. Just don't overbuy! It's hard not too! Little girl shoes are soooo cute!! Good luck!

my 2 year old is in a 7...i have 8 month old twins but i havent put them in shoes yet...lol, because our 2 year old had shoes when he was about a month or so old, the soft ones without a real sole in them. my twins have such fat feet though, i would guess them to be a 1 or 2 i dont know.

My daughter turned 2 beginning of June. She wears a 7 right now. She's about the height of a 3 year old. I think her feet are similar. She was born with bigger feet and has kept them, though they are proportional to the rest of her. So I don't know if she's a good standard.
One thing I have that I love is a shoe sizer I bought from One Step Ahead http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId...
Because kids outgrow shoes so fast when they were little I am able to keep up with what size my kids are and dig through the box of bought aheads (I do the same thing you do a lot). My daughter lived in those Robeez style shoes because she has a weird quirk of always wanting something on her feet. She wore shoes more than my 2 boys combined pre-walking.

My 15 month old son wears size 5 for stride rite shoes. I think he has been wearing size 5 since 11 or 12 months old but different brands of shoes , so size is not exactly same for all brands.
