Potty Training Question - Bellevue,NE

When I gave birth the first time I was sore and having trouble peeing no matter how long I sat. A sweet nurse told me to turn the faucet in the sink on, and that the water sound should help me go. I was skeptical, but tried it and it worked! When she came back I thanked her and she told me she used the technique with the her little ones. So when my children were training I used the trick and it helped, yay! I'd suggest when she finishes going potty and is ready to get up suggesting to her she try again before getting up which might help. If she tells you in a couple of minutes she needs to potty again try the water trick to help her tinkle sooner.

As far as getting her on the toilet, since she's been on the potty chair you'll need to train her again on a potty seat for the toilet. Here are two "princess" ones I ____@____.com:

My daughter had the same problem. Part of the problem was that we were giving her a piece of candy as a "reward" so she was going more to get more rewards. :P Nipped the candy in the bud right away. Leaning forward helps a lot too.

In terms of going on the toilet, I had to get rid of the princess potty chair. My DD is obsessed with Cinderella so I was all prepared to tell her that her fairy godmother came to give the chair to another princess learning to go potty. However, my DD never noticed it was gone! She just went straight to the potty. Maybe you will have the same luck? We do have a soft princess insert ring.

My son had both of these issues when we first started. I found that in the beginning he was just so excited to jump up and see that he'd peed that he wouldn't get it all out. It only took a few days with a little prompting to get past that. He also goes through phases with the potties. At home sometimes he will only go on the big potty and other days he wants the little one. I've never had a problem with him using a public one or a different potty if we are visiting someone's house, I think it's just a control thing at home. I would focus on the potty training , praising her for all she's accomplished and worry about which potty she's using a little later.

I trained my daughter a couple months ago (she just turned 3 too) and found it is a gradual process somewhat. She still won't go on the potty without me standing there to somewhat help her (hand her the toilet paper, remind her to flush, wash hands). Slowly, over 2 months she's getting more independent about it.

Suggest she leans forward to touch her toes, as that pressure might help empty the bladder? (and keeps pee in toilet)

I'd try to move her to the big toilet sooner than later. We use the Potette Plus and I love it! Can get it at Diapers.com or Babies R Us -- it's great because it comes with bags so I can keep it in the car in case we're in a 30 min drive and she needs to use the potty (or we're somewhere icky).

Are you doing a potty calendar (i.e. each day she does well she can put a sticker on the calendar, then after 7 days (or whatever, go to store and get a little gift? (My Little Pony in our case). That helped us.

Just remember, it's a gradual process in some manner (we trained in 2-3 days, but she still has occasional accidents, and still getting "comfortable" with the toilet).

p.s. CWS starting soon I think? We moved from Omaha 2 years ago. New stadium this year? I'm sure that's been big in the news.

Not sure how to get her to fully empty her bladder... but we had really good luck with the Bjorn toilet trainer to transition our daughter to using the potty (paired with the Bjorn stool). We even travel on vacation and to the grandparents with it!

My son only likes the big potty he won't sit on his little potty chair. Aren't kids funny.
As far as emptying her bladder all the way I'm assuming this would work with your daughter. With my son when he finished peeing I would say push the rest out and then tickle his tummy so he would tighten those muscles and it never failed a little bit more was always there. Now when he pees and I suspect he needs to go more I say push the rest out and I see him try. It really worked quick with my son. Good Luck!
