Order of Teeth That Come In.

My daughter is 11 months old now. She has the bottom two teeth, and I thought that after those would come the top two. Well I noticed that she has a tooth coming in and it seems to be a canine. Is this normal? and if so, why is it doing that? is something wrong with her teeth or am I doing something wrong? Am I not feeding her the right food?

What can I do next?

stop worrying so much! teeth do their own thing, as long as theyre not decaying or discolored when they come in shes fine. My youngest is almost 2, and STILL doesnt have all her teeth! some kids teeth come in slower. Mine got her back molars before she ever even had canines, one of which still hasnt dropped, its normal, Good luck

Hi A., I have an 11 month old little boy. He was also born on April 5, 2007 and his 2 bottom middle teeth came in first, followed by the left then right incisors. His two middle top teeth just broke through so he doesn't look so silly anymore. We also know other children who got their teeth in this order too. I'm sure you are doing everything just fine.

A.,

Although you may read which teeth normally come in first, they can actually come in randomly...I am sure it is nothing you are doing or not doing. We do not have much control over how the teeth progress until they are of age to see the dentist. My son appears to be missing some teeth, which the doctor says we have to wait and see. He may luck out (I hope so) or not which may require work to force things into place.

Good luck and let nature take its course!

My son is 16 months and his bottom 2 came in first at 6 months, followed by his 2 HUGE top front teeth at 8 months, then at 14 months came his 2 top primary molars (not kidding) and his bottom left lateral incisor all in one weekend. Looks like he is getting his bottom right primary molar (ouch). His doctor doesn't seem seem concerned. Said every kid is different. If you are looking for an idea of when they might come in, try this link: http://www.webmd.com/oral-health/dental-health-your-child...

Happy teething.

hi A....welcome to motherhood....hee hee

Madison is a lucky girl...we need all the good mommy's we can get!! I am happy for you [and her]!!

teeth....hmmmmm if your doctor is not worried...then listen to her [or him].

you are doing everything fine!! you have no control over her teeth...coming in that is.

is her little, tiny mouth extra small? like, what is your mouth like and your hubby's?

did you have problems? i have a small mouth...and my teeth are crowded... i could have used some braces...but they are fine..i am no super model so no biggie.

she has both your genes...so what you two go through, well, she may experience the same thing.

i hope i am making sense...lol

i am sure she is just fine!! hee hee

i am sure you do this already, but, don't forget to clean her teeth...all 3 of them, with a face cloth!! okay?

other than that. i think you are doing a great job. reaching out and asking questions is so responsible!!

take a bow...

My older daughter had all 4 of her bottom teeth come in at once when she was 11 1/2 months old. Then, all 4 of her top teeth came in at once 2 months later. What you are probably seeing are the second set coming in. No worries!

Hi A.,

I am a Dental Hygienist and a mom of a 14 year-old girl. My daughter cut her teeth the same exact way. One day my mom was rubbing her gums & my daughter bit her!! Surprise, a canine was already in! Again don't worry, just make sure you are brushing her teeth with a tiny baby toothbrush and water. Also, try to limit juices (even 100%) especially in a bottle--better to be in a sippy cup. In a bottle, with the continued drinking of juice, it is just keeping the teeth bathed in (natural) sugars.

Good luck & enjoy babyhood,
C.

Hi A.
There is nothing your doing wrong and it is normal for some babies to grow their canine teeth before front. My son did. And it has nothing to do with food. Maybe she has been chewing on her toys on that side.
Don't worry she will get her front teeth in shortly after her canine teeth.

My daughters teeth are coming in in some crazy order too, and the ped said it's nothing to worry about. My friends daughter had her 2 top canines come in first, which was perfect because it was right at Halloween and she was a lion :) Don't worry, your daughter is perfect.

Teeth have a mind of their own and will come in where and when they are ready. There really is no set rule for them.

There is a little bit of order when teeth come in..as in what maybe 1st, but otherwise it is all up to the kid! you are not doing anything wrong because your baby's teeth are coming in -in a variety ~Hugs~ you are fine.

Some kids are born with their teeth already in! crazy things like that happen..you need not to worry about these little things and just chalk them up to her original self..do not rely in Charts listed in magazines too much that you are worrying that something is wrong if she is not exactly on the chart.

When you need to worry is if she is really behind in things and then check with your Doctor..on your next check up have the nurse/doctor look at her teeth..also read up online on things that worry you so you can get a sense that it is OK (as well as asking here!)

It is hard being a mommy, and worrying is the # 1 thing!!

With my daughter, her teeth started kind of slowly and then very quickly she pushed in multiple teeth sort of at once. Each baby is different and its probably totally normal, but Id make an appt with a pediatric dentist anyway. I asked my dentist when I should have my daughter's first dental visit and he said 3, which most adult dentists recommend. I took her at 2 to a pediatric dentist who said really the standard is for babies to see a dentist at 1. I made that appointment because she had what looked like plaque built up along the gum line of her upper teeth and sure enough it was and she had the very beginnings of tooth decay! I was floored, I thought my husband and I were brushing her teeth enough and accurately and apparently we weren't.
So even though I wouldn't really worry about the order her teeth are coming in, Id still make an appointment and have her whole mouth checked.
good luck!

Same thing happened with my daughter. Her bottom 2 came in, then what seemed to be 2 canine and then her top 2 came in afterwards. It turns out the 2 that "I thought" were canine actually were the ones in between her front 2 and her canine. They just came in far apart and her pediatrician said that it was a good thing because as her teeth come in - to have them spaced so far apart would make it easier and less painful for her when the rest come in and that they would "shift" over to their right places, So I wouldnt worry yet.... just give it time and then you will see for sure.

Not to worry! This is exactly what happened to our daughter (now 12 months)as well. She got the bottom two, the top canine, the opposite side front tooth then canine, then the other front tooth. The dr. said it was fine and happens a lot. We joked and called her "Fang" for a while, but all are fine now. 4 in a row on top and bottom (poor babe got 3 new teeth in one week!!)
