On the Pill - Period a Day Late...

I've never had this happen while being on the pill before... I'm starting to freak out a little bit. Usually my periods come either on Saturday (the last green pill of my pack) or Sunday (the first white pill). It's Monday afternoon.... no period.

Has this happened to anyone else and they were NOT pregnant? If I don't get it by tonight I'll be off to buy a pregnancy test, but my daughter is ill today and I didn't want to risk heading out (fear of public vomiting!)...

Thanks for the reassurance so far. I haven't been on any antibiotics, and take it at the same time every day (and didn't miss any) so I'm going to assume I'm fine... and probably will get a test tonight.

This has happened to me. I am also on The Pill and after realizing I was a few days late I took a home preg test and it read negative. I waited a few more days, took another test and it still read negative. The next day I called my ob/gyn and she had me come in for an exam and a blood test. The blood test confirmed that I was NOT pregant, but I learned (from my ob/gyn) that it IS possible to miss a period while on the pill. I never knew this! She told me to just continue taking my pill and to start a new pack when I finished my "period week" pills. The next month I got my period on time and everything has been normal and on time ever since. (If I didn't get my period the next month she would have wanted to see me to figure out what was going on - but seeing that I did get my period, I never contacted her.) I would take pre-cautions if I were you..... no drinking/smoking, etc., in case you should be pregnant. But if you are a faithful pill-taker chances are you probably aren't. And I would contact your ob/gyn if you don't get your period soon so she/he can confirm that you are not (or are!) pregnant. Hope your daughter feels better! Best wishes!

This happens to me every few months while on the pill. This is perfectly normal, your body is changing since we are all getting older. I'm sure it will come.

How long have you been on it for? I have been on it for about 5 years now. Mine still isn't regular. I will spot in between. Sometimes it will start on Wednesday of the active pill, sometimes not at all. I guess I am not a great example since I am a little irregular :) I would take a test by the end of the week if you don't get it to be sure.

This happens to me once-in-a-while (especially since going on the low-dose). I asked the doctor and he said that it is normal to have irregular cycles even on the hormones b/c our bodies adjust and change depending on what's going on in our lives- stress is a powerful hormone too!

The odds are pretty darn good that you're not pregnant, but take the test if it will make you feel better- I know I did the first time it happened!

yeah that actually would happen to me all the time. I would take my last brown pill on Saturday and start the white pill on Sunday. For years I would always start my period that Sunday that I started the white pill. Then one month I didn't start until that Wednesday that i was on the white pill. Talk about a freak out! haha And then after that I would start my period anywhere from the Sunday I started the white pill till that Wednesday. So let me ask you a few things. Have been consistent with taking the pill everyday? Have you been on any antibiotics? Cause that can make the pill less effective. But if you haven't been on anything and do take the pill daily I bet you're fine.
