Have any of yall had this happen and is it normal? I had my baby end of sept last year... I started to get my cycle when she was three months in Dec. and until March it was actually pretty regular .. every 29-31 days or so... Well this month I have started at all and I'm over a week late but I took a test a few days ago and of course it said negetive.. so my queston is.. after having a baby does it take time to completly be "regular"... ?

What can I do next?

That happened to me. It was the same bc pill I'd taken for years. Now my cycle starts 3 days after it's supposed to every month but for three months I got scared that I was preggers because I was late!

I would say to take another pregnancy test. When my son was 3 months old I fell unexpectdly pregnant. My first test was also a negative. I took one about a week later and it was positive. I now have two wonderful boys EXACTLY a year apart (my youngest was born the day before my oldest turned 1). Good luck!!

I'd take another test in a few days. My first pregnancy test with my 22month old twins was negative, two days later it was positive. If still no sign of being pregnant, wait another month and see what happens. If still nothing, make an appt. with your OB. If you've been regular since Sept., there's no reason you shouldn't still be regular of course unless.... LOL!

Take the test again in a few days if you still haven't started, or go to the doctor. I had a positive and a negative test the SAME DAY (2 different brands)so I didn't know what to think, except I didn't want to spend another $10-$15 on a test. I FELT pregnant, and I felt it before I was even late, so I assumed I was til I could get to the doctor and have it confirmed. And, of course, I was. :) That was 8 1/2 years ago, so the tests may be better now, but they were pretty darn accurate even then. (except the one that said "negative" LOL!)

My daughter was born on Sept 29th and I'm breastfeeding her. I have only had one period since then. I haven't taken a test. I don't know if it's common but that is my story.

I'm still waiting for mine to get back to normal...and my "baby" is 21 months old! Arrgghhh!! If you are nursing, that will factor in and you will go through random cycles like the other Mama said. Also, did you start a new birth control? If so, that can cause you to miss a cycle. Stopped or started exercising? That also can cause you to miss one. I have always been irregular, then after my first got pretty normal, now back to all kinds of randomness! I would wait a while and take another test just to be sure. Keep track of this in a journal or on a calendar. Wait to see what happens next month. If you still don't get your period or it is irregular in any way, call your ob/gyn. It helps if you can track it so your doc has as much info as possible!

Good luck!

J.,
I would recommend a hair analysis or saliva test to see what is going on w/ your hormones. It is very common that they fluctuate and this occurs after pregnancy and/or nursing; many times it takes months for the cycle to regulate. But, if something is off, you want to know it so that you can supplement appropriately and provide for your body and the baby's. If you have any questions, feel free to email me offlist at ____@____.com.

Yeah, you loose a lot of blood when you're in labor, so your body might still be trying to regulate itself, it might take several months to get completely back to a regular cycle. Try taking in more iron.

Your most likely just late or your periods are not completely regular yet.
I would not be too concerned about being pregnant just yet unless you are "feeling" pregnant.
If your over a week late and pregnant, you'll most likely be feeling some kind of symptoms by now. (At least I did)
If your periods are beginning to get irregular and this is a problem for you, there's a medication you can try that will regulate your period.
(I'm just not posotive if you can take it while nursing)
Just ask your ob-gyn on Monday about the medication if you still haven't gotten yor period.
Also, being on the pill has always regulated my periods.
Theres a birth control pill you can take that's safe to use while nursing.
Good luck to you!

I posted this very question a few weeks ago. I had my daughter in mid Sept last year. I've had a period since she was 2 months old. They were every 28-1 days.... March 1st was my last period. I took a pregnancy test a few days after I should have started and it was negative and a few at 1 wk late and 1 1/2 week late...that were negative... but two weeks later I took another that was positive... I am pregnant. Now that I look at the test from 1 1/2 weeks I can see a faint line... I'm sure I was in denial. Early tests can give false positives. I'd suggest going to your doctor and having a blood test. It is possible for breastfeeding to throw off your cycle, but it is better to be certain.

The same thing happened to me after I had my son in Sept 05. I had very regular periods until may, then they were very irregular. I took pregnancy tests, so i knew I wasn't pregnant. In fact, one month I even had my period twice. Anyway, not sure the medical reason for it, but in August I actually had discharge (sorry TMI) on day 14 for the first time since the baby (got pregnant that month too). Anyway, I think that August was the first month I actually ovulated since my son was born, so could be your body is getting ready to start ovulating again. Not a professional, just a guess.

between having my daugter and son (a three year gap) I was never regular. I always was before my daughter. After my son I went back to being regular. I guess sometimes having a baby messes up your system.

If you've been particularly stressed, or had any major change in the women you're around (because our cycles revolve around the women we're aroung)... then it can make you late. Just give it a few more days, and then test again.

Good Luck!
