I'm having a really hard time dealing with fact that my baby is turning 4 years old! Any suggestions how to celebrate the special occasion instead of dreading it? As I have posted many times before I'm really struggling with the fact that we can't have anymore babies and as her birthday gets closer the sad feeling is growing stronger. We are doing a birthday party to celebrate her, but my heart is so sad and I feel I'm shorting her! Please positive advice

What can I do next?

My first baby will turn 25 in October.
She is now a mommy herself.
It really is hard to understand how quickly the time goes so just live in the moment and enjoy your daughter.
How are you shorting her?
She certainly is a great joy to you. Celebrate that. Celebrate her birthdays.
As she gets older, celebrate that she can grow into a woman unto herself because of all the love you gave and lessons you taught her.
She's far too young to be sad about having birthdays. They are the most special thing for little kids.

You've been given a gift. That gift will grow and learn to prosper over the years on her own.
It's not a bad thing.
I am a sentimental sap, so I do know what you're talking about, but for your child, birthdays are such an accomplishment and so special.

You'll be all right.
Be happy with what you've been blessed with.
When my daughter was 4, I thought sending her off to kindergarten was hard.
Then, I was present for the birth of my grandson.
It really makes you see the beauty in the cylce of life if we allow ourselves to enjoy all that if offers.

Hang in there.
Your daughter is going to 5, 6, then 16 one of these days.
Enjoy her through all her stages.

Best wishes.

My baby turned 30 in May. Trust me, you arent shorting anything and time goes on and on and on. Live each day to it's fullest. They grow up so fast but always remain as your "babies" no matter what.

I feel your pain! I have twins who are about to turn 3 in a few weeks. I'm struggling that they are almost 3 already :( Where did my babies go! 2 weeks ago my son became fully potty trained and today we moved them into big kid beds! I keep going upstairs to just look at them sleeping peacefully in their big beds. I already miss their cribs. They truely are growing up and its hard to deal with. Maybe for your daughters birthday you could do a full day of fun things. Last year we took our kids to the Childrens Museum and spent the whole day there playing and exploring.... they LOVED it. Afterwards we went back to our house where their immediate family (grandparents, 2 cousins their aunt and uncle) meet for cake, ice cream, and presents. It was a busy day for everyone, but it was FUN and distracted me from being sad about the fact that they were turning a year older. Best wishes and happy birthday to your daughter!!

4 is an age they really start to remember their birthdays.

Is she in day care? Will her classmates be there or other children?
Ask her what she would like by giving her choices you are willing to give her.

When our daughter turned for I asked her which park did she want her party at and gave her 2 choices. Then I asked her if she wanted chocolate or vanilla cake. How did she want the cake decorated.. The said a "Ballerina Baker".

From there I went with her theme at the park with all of her daycare friends and their families. I reserved a spot next to the playground. I purchased tickets for everyone to ride the train at one point. It was a blast.

She still laughs when she sees pictures of the cake and says she "remembers being so excited for everyone to see it". She is now 21.

A party in your back yard with games, cake and ice cream. A dress up party at your home or party place. A family party with all of the relatives, cousins, neighborhood friends.

Bowling with little friends, everyone can get a trophy for a prize at the end. Order pizza.

Aaaaw, I feel the same way sometimes. My youngest is 14. I TRY not to keep thinking, sigh, 4 years from NOW they'll all be gone.

I think it's pretty normal. Just love her all up the way she is TODAY, cuz it's not like you're going BACK!

Probably, I will get a new puppy!

:)

You are mourning the loss of having a baby. Let yourself feel sad. Cry if you feel like it. Then when you're with your little girl, put on a happy face and focus on the joy of having her.

It's healthy to grieve and it's healthy to set that grief aside for the sake of having a good time.

you better start planning a great bday party your daughter will remember forever. appriciate the fact God gave you a blessing a beautiful and healthy daughter, and your best friend forever. You just have to accept the fact that God gives us what we need not what we want. Love her, enjoy her, appriciate her and don't let her feel she is not enough. Four is such a great age, get pedicures together, have a tea party, go shopping, bake cupcakes. On the serious note, how many women can only dream about having a baby and they never get a chance to.
