Isn't There Anything for Mom and Baby on the Weekend?

I've looked all over, Gymboree, CCAC, etc. to find a Mommy and Me anything for me and my nine month old son to do on the weekends because I work full time and there is nothing...It's like the whole world doesn't pay attention to the working mom, everything is at like 10:00am on Wednesdays - it really sucks....If anyone knows anywhere / anything, let me know!

What can I do next?

I agree there's not a whole lot for working moms. However, there are a few places I've taken my kids, ages 3 & 5, to on the weekend that they love!! Trax Farms and Sorigals (spelling?)are a couple of ideas. And I think even at 9 months there's a lot to do to entertain him there. Good luck! T.

Check out The Center for Creative Play on Braddock Avenue. It is $2.50 per child and $5 per adult (or vice versa, I can't remember off hand). It is awesome. They have a website too. www.cfcp.org. It is not structured activities like Mommy and Me classes, but it is like a big playroom with several themed areas. There is a special area for babies, but it is geared for mostly toddlers and very young kids.

L.,

I am the membership vice president of MOMS Club of Pittsburgh-East and although the club is geared towards stay at home moms, we are finding that most of our moms work part-time during the week. I myself will be returning to work full-time in the near future and will want to do things on the weekend. I know we will be hosting some events on the weekend in October. Why don't you check us out at:

Your other option would be the Pittsburgh Mother's Center. You can look at them at www.pittsburghmotherscenter.org

We go to classes at GYMKHANA for my three kids, ages 5, 3, and 1. The infant and toddler classes are Parent/Child classes. They have a couple of locations. Also, when your son is older, the zoo offers Parent/Child classes.

Hope this helps!

I can appreciate your concern. I have a 9 month old son, and I too work full time, so weekends are for us. There is nothing until he is like 3 or 4 and can take swim classes or something like that. I really wish there was something that would be available for working moms who want to have a fun Saturday with their children. If you hear of anything, please let me know. S.

Hi L.,

I work for the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Sometimes at the Main branch in Oakland there are things called Baby lap-sit classes. They have a story time geared towards infants and they also give out toys that stimulate the brain and other learning activities. You can check out their website at www.carnegielibrary.org if you are interested. Hope that the information helps.

I also know the frustration of trying to find something to do on the weekends. I have a 2 1/2 year old and I work part-time and going through school. But try the library they have fun things to do with little ones!
