My 6.5 month old has had this red rasied lil pimple like rash all over for a month.she also has 2 big marks one center of back and one on her shoulder. i took her to peds for her 6 month check up and was told it was just a heat rash. which it wasn't she gave me a cream for the two big ones and said watch them. its not a heat rash but she is unsure what it is. she has always been a happy lil girl and know she cries at time i am just not sure if they bother her or not and i am not sure if they have baby dermo's as the peds don't seem to know anything.

What can I do next?

It might be psytoriasis rosecea (I don't remember how to spell it, but it's also known as "the christmas tree rash". It's a benign little rash that starts with a "herald patch", which might be the big patch you see. It's accompanied by a week or so of feeling a little icky-- malaise, fatigue, etc. Most pediatricians can recognize this from a mile away, though! I don't think it should last a month, unless your baby's skin is really delicate... I'd call your pediatrician again and ask about it. Of course, if you're not reassured, ask for a second opinion.

If the rash is actually in her mouth then it is probably thrush. Try sterilizing all of your bottles and nipples, then get yourself an over the counter hydrocortizone cream and apply it to the external rash. You should see some improvement in 24 hours, but it may take a week to really clear up.

Ask your doctor about it being eczema (not sure if I spelled it right) my daughter has a mild case of it and get these red bumps somtimes and the little red pimple looking things. I don't know if they have baby dermotologists but you could call around and find out or seek a second opinion from another pediatrition. Good luck!

I also had to take my child to ped dermatologist. Just FYI, Children's Hospital's dermatologists are located in an office in Wexford. But if you go there make sure that the doctor that you scheduled appointment with actually sees your child. In my case the doc never showed his face and only a non MD assistant checked her rashes.

Try taking her to Children's Hospital or a dermatologist. This at least will ease your worry or may find the cause and be able to help her.

It could be an allergic reaction. My first thought was to ask you if she spends a lot of time laying on the floor on her back where your "furbabies" also play. What do the marks on her shoulder and back look like?

There are dermatologists that specialize in pediatrics. My son saw one in northeast PA when we lived there. If your pediatrician or health insurance carrier can't recommend one, maybe Children's Hospital can help. Otherwise you could check the yellow pages. Hopefully they will have specific listings for pediatric dermatologists but if not, I guess you would have to call each one and ask.

Did the doctor rule out food allergies? I was having the same issues with my son and it turned out he was allergic to milk. Everything cleared up as soon as we switched formula. I was also nursing at the time and I had to cut out dairy from my diet as well.
