How to NOT Induce Labor

Okay, this is more of a fun question than a serious one, but I need some advice (old wives tales, etc.) on ways to NOT go into labor. I'm 38.5 weeks, due June 7th. However, I have a job interview on Tuesday June 1 (crazy, I know) and I'm REALLY hoping that this baby stays put between now and then. (I should add that it's for a job that woulnd't start until Aug, but they're doing the hiring now). As of Wed of this week I was already between 1-2 cm dilated.

Anyone know of anything do to or avoid doing to prevent labor for at least another 5 days? Thanks!

What can I do next?

be lazy. don't do alot of walking or cleaning. Stay off of your hands and knees. No sex. Stay off of really bumpy roads. No baths warmer than mild warm. No spicy foods. No nipple stimulation.

These are things that my grandma always told me to do in order to go into labor or I would assume if you don't want to then do the oppisite :)

Good luck with both the interview and the baby!

Hate to damper your weekend. My Dr told me to have plenty of sex and go swimming when it was time to deliver. You may want to avoid these two things. SORRY!!!

Stay away from pineapple. i went into labor after reading online that pineapple helps to induce labor. I was due sept 5 ate pineapple that night and went into labor at 3 am on the 6th. id say it works so stay away from it if you dont want to go into labor. LOL good luck on the interview and the baby.

That's this coming Tuesday. Have a relaxing weekend and what will be will be...you wouldn't want to stop the baby from coming. Don't do too much, have some fun, relax, take it easy and enjoy the long weekend. If the baby still comes, then maybe the job interview can be rescheduled - or maybe it is a higher power telling you that it wasn't meant to be.

Happy Memorial Day! C.

A friend who went into early labor was actually able to suspend the process for 5 days by using a self-hypnosis technique in which she visualized her amniotic fluid as a still pond.

Stay off your feet as much as possible as walking around helps dilation. That is the only thing I can think of.

C.,

You've already begun labor, if you make that interview one thing for sure is that you WILL be remembered. Nothing says I'll be needing a little time off soon, like a woman who is nine months pregnant! If you have a great specialty, a good resume and the company doesn't need you right away, I'm thinking the job is yours.

Blessings......

You can stay dialated 1-2 cm. for a while. I have five children and I was always told if I wanted to go into labor then I should go for a long walk, bumpy ride or have sex so, if you don't do any of those things you could hold off for a bit. . I have had high risk pregnancy's and have had five miscarriages and I have had to try not to go into labor at an early stage and was told to take it easy not do any lifting at all and lay down with my feet up. I am sure that you could try that until after the interview. The thing is when your baby is ready to come they are going to come . Good luck hope you get the job or got the job if I am too late on posting this.

You can stay at 1-3cm for weeks and not even know it. Worry not.

However, if baby decides to make an appearance, there's nothing to stop it!
