How Much to Pay 13 Yr Old for Cat Sitting

When we go out of town we have the same issue with our 2 cats. We have a 12 year old neighbor who takes care of them. I figure about $5.00 a day and if they do a good job (which they always do) I give them an extra little bit so a week would be about $40.00. I don't know if that is too little or too much. Boarding would be a lot more!Our neighbor cleans out the cat box too and plays with them-which she loves to do. I think she would do it for free but I would not expect her to do that! This way she gets to earn a little money as she is learinng responsibility. You might think of a gift card to a favorite place too. I'm thankful she is so responsible-so are my kitties!

I think if she's going once per day that $10.00 would be nice. That is about $2.00 per day (for 5 days), if it's 7, then make it $14.00.

I always found out what it would cost to board and then pay a little less than that. The point of not boarding is to save a little money. It also depends on how many times a day she comes in. I would pay anywhere btw $5-$10
per day.

I would offer her at least $5 a day. I pay anywhere from $10-$20 per day but I have FIVE cats. She won't have far to go - she lives next door - and it'll be an easy way for her to earn money while learning responsibility. If you had an adult do it and they had to drive to your house or make time before or after work I'd offer more but honestly, for a 13 year old, I'd offer $5 a day.

We paid our friend's 13 year old son $50 for feeding our dog for a week. (We have a doggie door, so we only needed her fed while we were out of town.) He was THRILLED with the cash and we were thrilled with the savings...it was win win.

I second paying a bit less than boarding. Then I would add some extra for being a good neighbor. I pay some neighbors about $7.00/hour to help me with things around the house - just bagging leaves, or helping with a big household project. It's a huge time saver for me and they get cash.

If she is a next door neighbor and all she is doing is feeding the cat once a day, taking her a whole 10 minutes, I would think 2 or 3 per day.
