Hi everyone, I am new to this website and was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of how much full time child care for an infant is in Waltham or Watertown MA. We are re-locating and its hard to find prices on the web!

Thanks

We send our kids to Next Generation Children's centers in Natick and now in Sudbury When I was looking around, it was pretty middle of the road in terms of cost. Bright Horizons was more expensive, some smaller single-center centers were less. And home daycare ran about $200 less per month. Anyway, NGCC ran around $310/week for a 9 hour day, including lunch but not including diapers.

Anyway, you're going to have to shop around if you want exact prices, but I hope this helps.

in watertown, day care centers run about $280 a week - usually means open 7 - 6 - which you won't find with home day cares - so it sort of depends on your needs. home day cares are less expensive, but its hard to find openings b/c they only take one infant and a few toddlers, and in my opinion less flexible with hours, etc...

i don't know about waltham, but its probably similar...

the big daycare center chains (bright horizons at arsenal for example) are good, but even more than $280 a week...

let me know if you have questions - my daughter is 3.5 has attended two in town and i can tell you about them if you'd like...

Hi R.,

I have already done all of this research! I live in Watertown and have had my 11 month daughter in daycare since 12 weeks old. I looked at many places when I was pregnant and the best by far, for us, is First Path Daycare on Whites Ave (bottom of hill at Boys & Girls Club). I looked a few cheaper options by found them to be in grungy houses with younger staff (and smelly) and the centers like Bright Horizons are ridiculously expensive. First Path is open from 7:30 - 6pm which fits many needs and they are always open. I pay $320 a week which is not cheap, but worth it in many ways. The woman who runs the infant room has 17 years child care experience and is excellent. Let me know if you want more info - happy to help!

I just want to second what Erica said about First Path. Both of my daughters are there right now and both started in the infant room at 12 weeks. The infant room is the most expensive, and as you move into the toddler room, the rate drops slightly, and the same goes for when they go from the toddler room to preschool. Right now, the toddler rate is $285/week, and the preschool rate is $255/week. Their rates go up a little bit each year. Best of luck!
