Hallo mamas,
I would like to ask you again for help. I have a very active 10.5 months old baby girl, very social and who loves to be outside and meet other babies. I am new to the North Seattle /living in Freemont area / so i would like to know what are your recommendations for indoors or outdoors playgrounds, or play area in near located malls. We took our baby one time to Alderwood mall and she liked it really very much.

The second question is what is your recommendation for the first walking shoes. She is still now walking on her own,but i want her to get used to walk with shoes. So far she had those very soft , rubber sole shoes and i got her today Koala Baby Shoes, but those are kind of hard sole shoes....I need to have something in between i guess. You input will be appreciated.

What can I do next?

Bellevue Square has a nice play area, up on the 3rd floor away from the stores. There's a Gymboree/KinderMusic up there now too. Very large area. You can also do Gymboree classes in Ballard on Market Street (toward the Locks). Most of the Seattle parks department community centers have classes for little ones, but we discovered that they are usually for 2 or 3 and up. The Ballard community center does have a "drop in" play center that's $2 per visit or something like that.

For walking shoes, we found that the See Kai Run shoes worked best--mostly because our daughter has tiny feet and needed size 3s! They were the only outdoor/soled shoes that would fit her. Me N Moms in Ballard sometimes has discounted past season See Kai Run. I also like the Robeez Tredz shoes--but they ran big so she had to be a little bigger before we used those.

The Northgate Library community center across from the mall has an open gym playtime a few times a week. It costs a few dollars per child but it is totally worth it. We normally bring a snack and play for a few hours. The age of kids varies but is very appropriate for a 10 month old. Hope this helps.

A fun place for both older and younger kiddos is "Kid's Quest" in factoria mall (not North Seattle, but still worth a visit), we took our daugher there just this weekend (she's 15 months), but also took her when she was about 10 months. It's $7/person, but really fun, and surprisingly clean!
Also, for new walkers I reccomend Robeez, they are super comfortable and flexible for little feet!

green lake has a great litte toddler room too. we also like the play area at the alderwood mall, but not on weekends(too many big kids). the northgate CC is great too if you can make durring their time slot.
oh, and the zoo has an indoor play area too.
Have fun!

There are a TON of indoor play lands that are only for little ones (cut off is age 5). Also...any of the brochures have 3-5 pages on tot activities.

My personal recommendation, however, is that you focus on what YOU like to do...and take her along. Parks a great...for a few years we went nearly every day (we were in an apartment, so we couldn't just go play in the yard)...but you can't stay there all day. Get out of the house and do things that are interesting to YOU. Especially at this age, for the next couple of years, EVERYWHERE is a wonderland. So take advantage of that. :)
