Baby Low... When Will I Start Labor?

I am now 38 weeks pregnant. I went to the midwife a few days ago and she was surprised to feel the baby so extremely low in the pelvis. She said it could be 10 days or so when I have him.
I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with having a baby low at 38 weeks and at what point you went into labor. I know everyone is different, but I am just interested in knowing.

My midwife doesn't check for dilation or effacement until 39 weeks... so I am not sure about that.

I have been feeling lots of pressure on the pelvis as well as pressure on my back.

What can I do next?

At 35 weeks the doctor told me i was very low and baby was measuring small so they did an ultrasound- baby was only measuring so small because he was low. I was at +1 station. they said the baby could come at any time but he was not born until 39 weeks and 4 days. So, it doesn't necessarily mean much. I had a lot of pressure and was just uncomfortable for 4 weeks. Good luck!

When that watermelon feel is between your legs, be ready any day. Both mine dropped low and came out within a week.

For what it is worth at 33 weeks I was 1 cm, 80% effaced and a -1 station. I went to 41 weeks just like that and had to be induced. So....in my case all the signs pointed to an early delivery that was not to be.

I carried very low with both of my boys. I had lots of pelvis pressure with my second and the pressure just got unbearable the day I had him (37 weeks) My first I had back pain (38 weeks) both times I was told by my doctors that they didnt think I would be going into labor anytime soon but my boys had other plans.
My sister also carried low and she had to be induced with both of her kids so I don't think low, high, average has anything to do with it she delivered at 40.5 and 41 weeks.

I carried both of my kids very low. And at the end, there was tons of pressure and pain. Unfortunately, at least for me, that was never any indicator of labor starting. Nor was dialtion/effacement.

With my first, I was only dilated to 1 when labor started at 38.5 weeks.

With my second, I was dilated to 3.5 (for 2 weeks), and I don't know when labor would've started. I chose to induce at 39.5 weeks.

Pressure is just part of the ballgame when you're that far along. :(
