How Many Weeks Did You Deliver 2Nd Child

I am 37 weeks, 3 days pregnant, and soo anxious to have this baby!! This is my second pregnancy, I delivered my first at 39 weeks, exactly a week before my due date. I'm just curious how far along you were when you had your first and second (3rd, 4th, ect.) I think I made the mistake of just assuming from the beginning that I would have this one even earlier then my first. Now I am starting to think she will never come! I know everyone is different and I could have her tomorrow, or I could have her past my due date! Just want to hear some examples from you ladies, thanks!!

What can I do next?

First at 36 wks 6 days
Second at 38 wks 1 day after having the doctor "sweep the membranes" at 38 wks. I had dealt with 12 wks of contractions, baby at -2 station for a month and dilated to 4 cm for 3 wks. I also assumed, as did the doctor, that #2 was coming earlier than #1. Boy were we wrong!

I had my first 2 days after his due date. My second was on his due date (doctor said he thought he'd come early, he was wrong!). My 3rd and 4th were both born at 42weeks after an induction. My 5th was born on his due date. We'll see with #6.

It's hard at the end isn't it? My first one was two weeks late--I started labor on the day I was scheduled to be induced ; ) My second one came the day before her due date. We weren't ready. I assumed I had at least another week. So don't know that it helps. Keep breathing, you really are almost there.

No way to know. My first was at 41 1/2 weeks (yikes, I was going out of my mind!) and second one surprised me with a pleasant 39 1/2 weeks. I've had friends go shorter with their first, longer with the second and vice versa. No way at all to predict, unfortunately.

I definitely think I was an anamoly, but I had both of my children on their due dates. They were both 20 inches long and weighed 6 lbs 9 oz. It was really kind of creepy at the time. Now 2.5 years later, my first child is on the smaller side and my second child is almost off the growth chart. Go figure.

I was a week early with my first. I made the assumption that I would do the same with my second. We scheduled an induction for my second 3 days before my due date for planning reasons only. I didn't really want to be induced but I never thought I would actually get to that point. I thought for sure I would go naturally before then. Well, I ended up being induced! So, I don't really know when my second would have decided to come on her own.

I delivered #1 at 37 weeks. She was an easy 6 pounds. When I hit 38.5 weeks with #2, I chose to have an elective induction because I was nervous that she was getting too big and I would end up with a c-section (there was no reason for this thinking; my doctor just said -"oh, I'm on call on such and such, let's have the baby that day"). While the induction went smoothly and I had a healthy baby, I wish that I didn't induce (I read up on how babies prepare themselves naturally for birth within a couple days of being born). And I have always wondered what her real birthday would've been.

#3 came three days before his due date at over 8 pounds in a 1.25 hour labor and delivery. While it was fast and uncontrolled and I tore some, letting him come on his own time was worth it.

Now that I am preggo with #4, I am going to wait just like I did with #3.
Good luck; I hope all goes smoothly for you!

I delivered my first child 100% naturally at 38 weeks 1 day, 13 days before my due date.
My second baby I felt like you. At 39 weeks no signs of progress! I was induced due to my water breaking and still no labor. I was still able to deliver vaginally, 3 days before my due date.

Good luck and congratulations!

I delivered my first one at 38 weeks, 3 days. My second was born nine weeks ago and he was born the day before my due date. Both came naturally, I was not induced with either. I know exactly how you're feeling, I thought for sure that my second one would be here at least by 38 weeks. Those last days seem to take forever, but time flies once you have two! Good luck and enjoy!

My first was induced and had her 7 days before my ESTIMATED (emphasis on estimated here, the 'due date' is just a guess) due date and my second was 4 days before and I went natural. First was 9lb 2oz second was 9lb 11oz.
Just a heads up, 2 weeks either side of the due date the dr.s give you is considered normal and the average pregnancy length (w/out induction) is actually 41 weeks. Good luck and God bless.

My first baby was a week late, the second was overdue by a couple of days and I just had #3 (2 weeks ago) and she surprised all of us by being 10 days early! I had planned to go late as usual and then we ended up at the hospital way ahead of when we expected to be there. Plan ahead in case that happens but also keep the far end of your due date in mind so that if you do go late it won't seem so long of a wait. Having #3 so early really caught us off guard and we barely had our stuff around. We had just set up the crib and purchased the bassinet, car seat 2 days earlier!

Congratulations on your new addition and big hugs to help you endure the last weeks of waiting (which are the hardest!)

first was at 36 weeks (thank goodness, he was 7 pounds)
second was right around 40 weeks
third i was induced at 38 weeks, I had extra amniotic fluid and she was flipping around so much they thought she'd get stuck and I would need a c-section, so we caught her head down and hoped for the best.
we will see with number 4 but I'm 30 weeks and have regular contractions every day, which I never did with the others, hoping I make it to 36 weeks, but because i am expecting to go early, with my luck I'll go to 40 plus and be miserable. :)

My first and second were induced at two weeks after due date. My third came 13 days late on her own. And my fourth and last was induced 5 days early because of my mom and her health. SO what I learned from them is that boys don't like to lead or leave the womb. My daughter was the only one that I did not have induced. Just hang in there. It will be over before you know it.

With my 1st baby, my water broke at home when I was 39 weeks, 2nd was an induction, 3rd baby my labor started at home at 37.5 weeks, 4th baby my water broke the day after my due date. You can't really ever tell if they'll be early or late. Just know that your baby will come right on time, even if it doesn't seem like it!

Both my babies were "due" on the 5th of the month.
1st came on the 2nd, minutes past midnight.
2nd came on the 29th (of a 30 day month), 59 minutes past midnight.
Like the others said-hang in there-you don't want your baby to come before it's ready. :)

I had my first a week early, the second came on the actual due date. Labor time was cut in half (which is the norm).

I know the end is hard, but remember, every extra day inside is one less fussy day outside. Peek fussiness is from due date, not born date, so if baby comes early, you get extra weeks of peek fussiness (and more sleepless nights). It really is a good thing for baby to stay inside ;-)

My first was 2 weeks early and came pretty fast... SO of course I thought #2 would be early and fast... not the case.
She was on time, but still came out at a decent pace.
I wish I hadn't set myself up for thinking that the next baby would come out early. Made those 2 weeks pure hell :)
But in the end she did come- one day before planned induction. Sex helped that along lol
good luck

my first son came two days late, my doctor induced me and it turns out im allergic to the medication they gave me, so i had to have an emergency c-section. I am currently pregnant with my second one and have 5 weeks and 4 days left until my planned c-section, a week before my due date. my mom had three girls, my sister a week late, me a week early, and my little sister (11 yrs after me) came right on time. we didnt even have enough time to make it to her midwife about an hour away, we had to go to a local hospital instead.

I had my first at 41 weeks 0 days and my 2nd at 38 weeks plus one or two days. The idea that the 2nd comes earlier, comes from the statistical data that the average gestation for a first baby is 41 weeks, 1 day and the average gestation for a 2nd is 40 weeks, 3 days. However, this does not mean that if you had a first baby at something other than 41 weeks, one day that statistically you'll have the 2nd 8 days earlier. Statistically, the average 2nd baby is still 40 weeks, 3 days - but that's just an average and your baby will come when it's ready!
