We need to replace some carpet badly upstairs, but my husband doesn't want to go with Lowe's for whatever reason. Has anyone used a local company and had a wonderful experience?? I have found The Plano Floor Source online ... has anyone used them by chance??

Thanks for your help!!

I highly recommend Carpet Direct. They sell the exact same carpets, tile and woods as Home Depot, Lowe's, Empire, etc but at about 40-50% of the cost. They sell direct from the seller with no overhead and they bring the samples to your home to select. For example, they sell more Stainmaster than the other three combined. They provide installation as well. You can contact Alan Vogel at ###-###-#### for more info. Tell him M. gave you his number. Good luck!

We have used Rodenbaugh's in Allen (old downtown area) many times over the years. The service is great as well as their product. Debbie was our sales person and so nice and helpful. Our original appliances came from there as well. They are a great company. Good luck

I have used Winston Flooring for years; I have a ton of rental property and Winston has been my exclusive source for carpet. Excellent installers; fair pricing, good people. Don't have the no. handy but you can check the yellow pages. good luck. The problem with using Lowe's or a co. like that is that you have to find your own installer or use one from their list. The carpet companies usually have their own crew and their reputation depends on their performance. Not to say every crew from Lowe's is not good; but rather to say that a carpet co with excellent reputation stands a better chance of having an excellent installer than one you get through Lowe's. hope that makes sense.

We just had our all of our bedrooms and playarea recarpeted. We wend through Costco. They come to your house and are friendly and not pushy. We are really happy with the carpet and installation.

We used Nadine Floor Company for our wood and tile floors. They did an outstanding job. http://www.nadinefloors.com/

The installers are employees of the company which I liked. When putting in our floors they removed all of the baseboards and re-painted them before putting them back on. They also added padding to the bottom of all of our furniture.

We had wood floors installed by The Great Indoors several years ago and they did not do a very good job. This summer we had a pipe in our kitchen break and had to replace the floors and Nadine Floor Company did a much better job than The Great Indoors. We had carpet installed by Home Depot two years ago and there are spots that are bunching up, so I would not recommend them.

Good luck!

I'll second the recommendation for Nadine's. They did a beautiful job on our wood floors. I wish we had used them for our carpet. We used a discount flooring company in Allen off Greenville and I have not been very happy. It was installed over a year ago and I can still feel bumps where they must not have properly swept/cleaned before putting down the new pad and carpet.
