Hi ladies, my sons 11th b-day is at the end of the month. I need some ideas for a party. Last year was a big suprise party so this year we are gonna tone it down a bit. Only 5 or so kids. My son LOVES video games and Pokemon stuff. He kind of wants to do an at home party but we dont have a lot of room, does anybody have any suggestions for a "gamers" party that wont break the bank?? We just did Boondocks for my nephew and that was big $$$. We live in the Westminster area. I already suggested Pump it Up and he wants to be able to play video games with all his friends. Help!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you everybody for your suggestions, we ended up not having a party at all. We gave him the choice, you could either have a party or get a Nintendo DS that he has been dying for. He chose the DS, suprise suprise :) He had one friend over for a sleep over and we went out to dinner, this is the cheapest birthday we have had in a long time. Thanks again ladies!!

We have done the old school house party for all three of our kids, they are all happy with this. I personally think the whole big b-day thing is too much. The kids are just happy to be with their friends! The slumber party is perfect for this age, and since you don't have alot of room just have your son limit the amount of kids. At this age they will want independence anyway!

I know this is a late response, but thought I would still send a note. JumpStreet, which is at I-25 and 84th is a great place for all ages [think LOTS of trampolines all hooked together]. My 11 year old loves the dodgeball area. This is a great place for any day, but we have had a party here and attended quite a few.

Hi B., If he wants to play video games with all his friends, I second the suggestion for Dave and Buster's. I like that it's indoors (you never know that the weather is going to do here in Denver at the end of March), it's a contained space, there are other games besides just shoot-em-up games (driving, dancing, skee ball, baskets shooting), and they're good with birthday parties.

What about a bowling party, too? They usually have arcade games as well, and I've always found that to be a big hit. Most bowling alleys have bumpers now that they can raise so that kiddos don't get one gutter ball after another and actually get to knock down some pins.

Have fun!

Warmly,
S.

Do you have a home game system? If so, why not make it a party around that and do a "tournament?" Let your son pick the game he wants to play with all his friends and then do your party theme around that game, specifically?

Just a thought...Good Luck!

There are two great choices though both are a bit of a drive for you - Dave and Busters in Denver, and Amazing Jakes in Aurora. Google them - for only 5 kids, it might be worth it. My 9 year old son loves them both.
