My husband and I will celebrate our 11th anniversary later this month, and have already secured a babysitter for a few hours that particular evening. Yee haw! First swanky dinner out in 19 months. Please advise as to a great, no miss restaurant in which to celebrate. We live in Arlington, but are willing to venture further. Being an active duty military family, we have missed many a milestone due to long deployments and want to make this anniversay count. Thanks ladies!

We love Blackies, downtown. They serve the best steaks in town. It's a bit pricey and you have to dress way up but it makes for a very nice evening out. We also took the dinner cruise a few years back and had a wonderful time. We aren't into dancing so we just strolled around the boat after dinner and watched the scenery.

I've been happy with the Vantage Point restaurant on the top floor of the Best Western in Arlington near the Key Bridge. And I love the view. Have fun wherever you go. Happy Anniv.

I'll second Jennifer M.! My husband and I have been to Restaurant Eve twice and we love it. The menu is constantly changing, so it never gets old. :o)

Dear R.,
OH my goodness, congrats!!! Well there is The Melting Pot, they have a restaurant in old town and 'couples' special. If you call make sure to let them know its for an anniversary and request a couple's booth. The BEST choclate fondue, and they have apps and entress of course. But if fondue isn't your thing then the Morton's Steakhouse in Reston is the most ramntic one, low lighting etc and intimate, then there's the outdoor ice rink that's within walking distance from the steakhouse(and a free parking garage).
Have fun!

Hello fellow Army wife!
My hubby and I are in the same boat, we have the 2 kids sooo getting alone time is something that doesn't happen enough!
We went on a 3 hour Washington DC dinner and dancing cruise...it was a blast! http://www.dctours.us/tours/tourType.cfm?ttid2=1519
Go and search for whatever best suits you and your hubby. You don't have to do the one we did, there are less expensive dinner cruises. It was so much fun, and we will always remember it....afterall it is your anniversary, so do something out of the ordinary and have fun!!

Let me know if there's anything I can help you out with involving this site!

Happy Anniversary!

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary last night. We went to Osteria. It is located in downtown Annapolis. It is a wonderful place. Everything we had was great and the atmoshpere is semi causual and simple elegant.I wore nice jeans and a sweater but you could dress a littler fancier is you wanted. Some one suggested the Melting pot for dinner.I wouldn't go there for dinner just not that good. But the dessert is amazing.Thats where we ended up after our fine meal at Osteria.Ps if you haven't been to downtown Annapolis you should go.There are some very nice stores to wonder in and out of and just an all around beautiful romantic place to hang out with your love.

Check our Restaurant Eve in Old Town... http://www.restauranteve.com/home/index.html

It's a wonderful experience from start to finish, they have a bistro where you order from the menu and also a tasting room with a pre fixe menu. I would recommend getting there a little early to try one of their signature drinks at the bar.

Have a wonderful evening and happy anniversary!

Hi R.,

There is a great Mexican restaurant in Arlington. I don't have the exact address, but if you're driving by it's on Wilson Blvd to your right after you pass Clarendon Blvd. It's in a strip mall after pierce st. The Mexican Restaurant isn't big and they don't take reservations after 7pm but it's fabulous! and the Steak restaurant next to it is supposed to be awesome too. The waiting list is supposed to be a few months long!

Good luck.

If you like Mexican, we love Rosa Mexicano in DC. Its in Penn Quarter on 7th and F I think. If you order guacamole, they make it at your table to your specifactions.. to die for! Its a more upscale restaurant tho so a bit pricey.

If you haven't been to the Melting Pot...this is the place to go! It is quiet, private, romantic, and DELICIOUS! They have a location in Balston. Just make sure you are hungry so you save room for the best part...DESSERT!

Willow in Ballston is fabulous. The former chef from Kinkaids is the chef and the former partner/founder of Firehook bakery is the desert chef. Excellent food. Nice atmosphere.
