H. - I love Zout! It really works for us. Pre-treat and it can sit until you do a load. It seems to always get out grass stains. I also am a big fan of Lestoil. That gets dirt and grass stains out pretty well from even white baseball pants.

I'm hooked on the Oxyclean Stain remover spray. I spray it on and use an old toothbrush to scrub the stain alittle and then throw it in the wash. I've gotten out stains(Butter, cherries, balsamic vinegar)from vacation clothes that sat for a week!

Hi H., I have found over the years the Amway laundry pre-wash works really well and recently I have used Oxy- magic by Clorox. As the mom of 5 (4 boys) I have seen many stains. Grandma Mary

lestoil is awesome.. find it by the mr. clean stuff... it's great.. check it out.. it smells pretty bad... but it cleans really good.. try it.. you'll love it for stains.. it really works.. one capful on the stain.. cover stain completely.. leave overnight.. then put in the wash..

I found that OxyWash spray takes ALOT of stains out. It took prune juice out of a light blue bib. I couldn't believe it.

Our pedi recommended that we use Zout! This stuff works great. I also use an old tooth brush to work it into the clothes. Oxy clean also works great too. I use Oxy clean for babies. After treating with zout I put the Oxy Clean in with the load.

My vote is for Oxy Clean -- I keep a bucket in my sink with clothes that I'm soaking. Sometimes it takes a few hours, some a couple days, but I've never had a stain I couldn't get out.

Try mixing Oxy-Clean and dish soap into a paste and then brushing into the really tough stains and let sit for a few hours. It is more work than just spraying on Shout but I've found it works pretty well.

I agree with most responses - Oxy-clean has worked for everything I have used it on.

If all these other suggestions fail, I remember my mom using this green bar of soap and a scrub brush to get the stains out of my brothers football uniform - now that was 30 years ago and not sure what it was called or it they still make it with all these new products available. But I believe you would find it in the laundry section if its still around.

OXYCLEAN works GREAT. Have used it to remove stains from hand-me-downs that had probably been therefore for a year.

I made homemade laundry soap about 2 weeks ago using our Bella Bar so I wanted to
share the recipe.
What you will need!
1 Bella Bar
1 Cup Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
1 Cup 20 Muleteam Borax
5 Gallon Bucket
3 Gallons 4 cups Water
2 quart sauce pan
Large spoon
Place 4 cups of water into 2 quart sauce pan set on medium/high heat (be careful not to
let water boil over).
Grate the Bella Bar using potato peeler or other device and add to the heating water
gradually
You want the Bella Bar to be completely melted in the water leaving no clumps.
Fill 5 gallon bucket with 3 gallons of hot water, 20 mule team and Washing Soda
Stir with large spoon.
Once the Bella Bar mixture is ready add it to the 5 gallon bucket and stir. Place lid on
bucket and let sit for 24 hours
This process takes about 15-20 minutes and you have saved money and gone more
green by using your own product from your own business.
Use 1 cup for each load of laundry

Baby Oxy Clean is my savior- it goes in with every load. Just read the directions, some of the containers you need to put 3 scoops, the big container is only one scoop.

If I catch the stain before it goes into the laundy I also pretreat it with Shout spray. If I don't catch it, the Oxy Clean usually gets it out.

try grease lighting... it's wonderful. it will take out almost anything. you can find it by the 409 at the store.

I stopped using Shout and use the OxyClean spray instead. It works great!

The best thing is Oxy Clean, in my opinion. It is expensive, but well worth it in preserving the looks of your clothes. Usually, the Sunday paper has coupons. I don't use the spot treatment because I didn't find it effective. I get the powder that you throw in the washing machine.

This trick works almost EVERY time. Pre-treat with stain fighter (shout, oxy, whatever). Then put the clothing in an air-tight bag for 24-48 hours. Do not leave it longer, or it will mold. Try 24 hours first if you live in a damp area (although these days we ALL live in a damp area, it seems). Then wash like normal. This has gotten most stains out, even OLD stains. Also, there is a product called "Grandmas Stain Fighter" or something like that. I have been told that it is amazing. Best of luck!

The best way to treat stains is to try to take them off when they are still wet. I use "Resolve" (carpet cleaner) to take them off before I put them in the washer. Some people like to put that "Oxy" powder in the machine and it works fine, but does not take away stains completely. Baking powder in the wash also helps. Hope I have helped :)

I use the laundry concentrate powder & Nature Bright Laundry Boost regularly. Outcleans OxyClean by 50% on grass stains.

My teenage daughter had put her newly tie-dyed t-shirt in the laundry with her favorite baby pink sweatshirt & her expensive Khaki work pants - blue dye all over both! I soaked it in Nature Bright for several hours and then washed with the above combo -m good as new!

I have a Stain-Stick in almost every room of the house. I find that if the stains are treated asap you can just throw the shirt/whatever clothes into the hamper and wash as usual. I rarely if ever have stains left after the wash. For really tough stains try 1/2 cup dishwasher detergent and 1/2 cup all-fabric bleach in the hottest water your washer will produce. Let it fill (after setting the level to however many garments you have to soak) with the hot water and swish once or twice, then shut it off and let it sit over night. Works on almost everything. Good luck - kids are little stain-makers aren't they!

I spray on the Oxy Clean spray when the stain is still wet and then hang it on the corner of my son's hamper until dry, and put in the hamper to clean when I get to it. Works like a charm. I have also had good experience with using it on stains from hand me downs that I know have been there a long time and they still come out! It is quite the wonder. Hope it works for you.

Laundry - ugh! Here's what works for me: I make a paste with Tide and OxyClean - rub it into the stain (nothing ceremonious here)and run it through the wash. Usually works like a charm. For tough formula or baby food stains - take a little more time w/the paste and it will work (whites will be whiter too!)

I soak stubborn stains in dish washer detergent. I put just enough very hot water in a basin with the detergent so that it dissolves, then make the water tepid and soak the clothes over night. The oxy stuff works pretty good too.

I know this will sound crazy but my family has always used a bar of Ivory soap with a nail/hard bristle brush and I swear by it from spaghetti sauce to grass stains it always seems to do the trick.

It can be a pain to take the time to do this so I usually hang it in my shower and wash the item when I was myself.

The other thing I've recently stumbled across for more general grime (i.e from crawling around all day with dog!)is Wash N' Wash Max with Resolve Cleaning power. It has to be the one in the red bottle though. I tried the green bottle (regular stuff?) and it did not work as well. I start the wash up and put the treated things on top so that they have time to soak prior to getting wet and I don't need to watch over the machine like a hawk. It seems to work most of the time.

Try Spray & Wash. I live by it.

I stain stick the spots as soon as the clothes come off. Then, Oxyclean with detergent in the washing machine. Take a look at the clothes as you take them out of the washer, before putting them in the dryer, to see if the stain came out. Rewash before drying if you need to. The dryer will set the stain and make it near impossible to get out later.

I've found that meat tenderizer is good for getting out protein based stains such as blood, poop, spit-up, etc. (It breaks down enzymes.) Just wet the stain, sprinkle a generous amount of meat tenderizer on it and soak in lukewarm water for a while. Launder clothing as usual. I have found that Zout works pretty well on other types of stains such as ink, dye and paint.

A little about me:

WAHM of 9-year-old son and 19-month-old daughter. Married for almost 13 years.

My favorite stain remover spray is the Dreft product. My kids are almost four years old and I still keep a couple of bottles in the house at all times. I haven't come across a stain it hasn't removed! Godd luck.

The Only thing that really works for me is soaking the clothes immediately, you can't pre treat the day after, cause thats too late.

You need to bring the spray bottle with you and while they are still wearing them, give it a spray.

I also use a brush to try and brush out the stains.

and last, I try and make them wear play clothes, to play in . Eventually everything ends up as play clothes but, I keep certain outfits for special occasions.
