Deliver at Littleton or Swedish?
This is our first baby and my O.B. works out of both Littleton and Swedish. We are trying to choose a hospital to deliver at, yet we don't live super close to either hospital, but we're closer to Swedish. Any thoughts or recommendations based on your experience at either hospital?
So What Happened?™
Thanks everyone for all of your thoughts! It sounds like people have had really positive experiences with both hospitals, which is reassuring. I think I will check with my doctor and see where she prefers. Do you know if the NICU is better at one or the other? I think they are both Level III, but I think Littleton is Level IIIb, which is slightly better. Anyone know if Swedish is IIIb too? Thanks again!

I loved Littleton! The staff was great. So much better than where my first two were born! Has great benefits. Free lactation assistance as long as your nursing, plus a lot of others. Free car seat checks, too.
Swedish has a great ER. I know a lot of staff there and think they're all great.
Congratulations!

I had my daughter at Swedish in March 2008 and had a great experience. I recommend asking your OB which hospital they prefer. My OB delivered at Swedish, Sky Ridge and Littleton. He recommended Swedish because the nursing staff worked very well together and had a good rapport (then Littleton, then Sky ridge) I had already planned at delivering at Swedish due to location, but I felt more confident in my decision after speaking to him. Good luck!

My son was delivered at Littleton and we cannot say enough abou them either - they were fantastic!!
We've had experience at Swedish for other things and it was always good care as well. I think you'll be in good hands with either choice!
Congrats and God Bless-

I delivered at Swedish twice and cannot say enough about their staff. Professional, kind and supportive. If you have doubts or concerns, take tours for both hospitals.

My first was delivered at Porter, which no longer does L&D My 2nd and 3rd were delivered at littleton, and my twins will be delivered there in a few months as well. I cannot say enough about how wonderful they are! I have unfortunatly had to be hospitalized twice during this pregnancy and the care and nurses are amazing. There are several nurses who have cared for me with both my kids and during this pregnancy, so they have been there for a long time. I have had not so great experiences with swedish for other things, and my cousin, who actually worked for swedish for several years (in ICU not L&D) had 1 of her 4 children there and said that she was glad she delivered the other 3 at Littleton. Not neccesarily a bad experience at swedish, just not the outstanding great experience she had at Littleton.

I had all three of my children at Swedish including a successful V-Bac. Loved the nurses there. They also have a group of midwives there. My doctor does both hospitals, too and actually told me he preferred the nurses at Swedish, which is why we stuck with that hospital. Happy doctor seemed like it would benefit me. =) If you're trying to go for a natural birth, I would still recommend taking a doula with you. When I came to Swedish with mine, they backed off on a lot of their "medicalness" and just let us do our thing. They were good about honoring our desires to keep baby with us, delay some of the tests, not check in so much in the middle of the night, etc. as long as we were very strait-forward that this is what we wanted. Good luck!

I delivered my 1st baby at Swedish and loved it! The nurses were great and they gave you a little class on how to bathe the baby and made sure you were stocked with everything you needed. My O.B. stopped delivering at Swedish so I delivered my second at Skyridge. I can only speak on those two hospitals...
