Ok, so I'm in my 20's and feel like I'm already getting wrinkles (crows feet). Well I didn't know if I was just thinking/making it up, or if my skin has really changed in the last 4-5 years so much. Well I was looking at some old pictures and it looks like my skin was so much tighter and younger. Anyway... I think it is time for me to start taking care of things NOW, before I have major problems with the way my skin looks. So if you ladies have any tricks or suggestions on what I could/should be using that would be great! Thanks so much!

Hi B.---Good answers so far. I'd like to add that the first place to start caring for your skin, besides drinking lots of water, is your diet.

Think of it, your body makes new skin cells all of the time. We have to give our bodies good building blocks in order to make the healthiest cells possible. I am taking a series of classes taught by a Naturopath who has her PhD in Nutrition. Dr. Pam teaches that an optimal diet is one that consists primarily of plants. 90% of our calories should come from plants, fruits, veggies, whole grains, beans/legumes, nuts and seeds. Minimize animal protein as it contains mostly saturated fat and calories, with no fiber or nutrients needed to keep us healthy. I recommend reading The China Study by T Colin Campbell to learn more. We should be eating 7-13 servings of fruits and veg each day. So it takes some planning to get all of that in. When you eat this way, you reduce your risk of all diseases as well. IF you can't, won't or don't eat enough fruit and veg (and we likely need to eat more bc our food is not as nutritious as it once was), feel free to contact me and I can help with recipes and other ideas that help to concentrate plant based foods into your meals.

Get plenty of sleep, reduce stress, exercise and you will help your body make healthy skin cells. That, along with proper cleansing and moisturizing, and you will optimize what your genes have given you. I also work with a biochemist who has written a book called Do You Have the Guts to be Beautiful, http://www.amazon.com/Do-You-Have-Guts-Beautiful/dp/09714.... Her name is Mitra Ray, PhD.

Hope this helps. Good luck and I look forward to helping more if you'd like. Be well, D.

You are not too young to start using cremes.

When I was about 12, I was introduced to Clinique and I have used it ever since. At this time, I use the Repairwear series of cremes. I am 48 and easily pass for early 30's.

My almost 16 yr old daughter also uses the Clinique.

One thing AS IMPORTANT as following the routine is water and sunscreen. Never go to bed without washing your face and applying creme.

The most important thing you can do is just to use a good moisturizer every day. There are many good brands - just get one with some anti-aging properties. Don't get too hung up on which brand. As long as it's good quality it will be fine. There are a lot of other anti-aging products out there & they are helpful, and I would recommend them if your budget allows. But the single biggest thing that will help is good old moisturizer (and sunscreen). I have used Mary Kay for many years. It's very good quality for a more reasonable price than the department store brands.

B.,
Beauty comes from inside out. So, you want to have a comprehensive strategy with it. Start with sleep, and plenty water. Sleep is the time our body regenerate itself. Adequate sleep helps you process emotional stress, liver restoration, and also Human Growth hormone secretion. Without getting the essentials, all the rest is only treating the symptoms. HGH is what helps keep us young. When we get older, we do not make enough of it. And most of it is secreted when we are asleep at night. Liver function is critical for skin. Many acne problems goes away when you strengthens the liver, as liver deactivates toxins in the body and secret them through regular channel of urine and bowl movement, instead of our skin.

Proper diet makes a huge difference, once you get some repair work done first. Exercise is another key component as well. As it helps your body removes toxins.

Once you get the internal work done, in addition, take proper nutritional supplements to support the maintenance of your body. Then, add on good moisturizer, sun screen, and mineral foundation will give you the added production.

I will be doing a natural health seminar that teaches people about proper digestive health, and the benefits it has on the rest of the body. Here is link for anyone interested to register.

Hi B.,
Did you know 90% of aging is from environment (i.e. Sun) & only 10% is from the actual aging process! So we can do alot to help our skin. Next is LOTS of water. Dehydration only accentuates fine lines, wrinkles, etc. Use a great anti-aging line one that does not contain mineral oil, synthetic fragrances, dyes, hypo-allergenic, etc. Also look for great anti- aging elements such as copper, peptides, etc. and encourages skin cell turnover.

I actually started using a line when I was 27. I am told all the time people think I look 28 (I am almost 35 & believe me it's not good genes, lol ;) The line I started using worked so well I decided to make it my business (RE 9 advanced). Plus it has a 45 day money back guarantee. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have. I hope you find something that works & that you love :). G.

The best idea is to use an SPF 30 or higher on your skin everyday, no matter what per my dermatologist. Enjoy your 20's - it gets much worse;)

I'm in my 20's as well and I use anti-wrinkle cream already! I have a friend who is a dermatologist and she swears everyone should use it starting at age 18! I use a more expensive Neutrogena one (about $40) but have used Oil of Olay as well and liked it. I don't think at this age we need to be buying $100 creams...lol! Also, look for a daily moisturizer (to use before your makeup every day) with an SPF 15 or higher in it. I like a good summer tan too....but I don't want any unnecessary damage! : ) Hope that helps! I look forward to see all the other answers!

I've been told that the most important thingis eye cream at night to hydrate. I think it does make a difference on crows feet. Also, I use No.7 from Target which is European and works like it cost a lot of money but it doesn't.
It will only get worse.

Good info already. I just wanted to let you know about what I have been using since I was in my early 20s. I had bad skin - breakouts all the time - and a friend recommended Mary Kay. I was very hesitant at first but found that my skin was clean but not stripped, and that it got better. 10+ years later, and I am still loving it - and now what it's doing to prevent aging.

You get to work with a consultant who gets to know you and suggests things specific to your skin. And, you can try things before you buy them to see if you like them. Mssg me and I'll give you my consultant's info, or go to www.marykay.com and put in your zip to find a good consultant near you.

Hi B.,
I started using Shaklee's Enfuselle line when I was 40. I took a picture first to make sure it worked. I could count the number of wrinkles that were gone from my face in just 3 days. It also cleared up blotchiness. Now I am 55 and no longer bother with foundation because my skin looks so good.
Let me know if you are interested.
Other things that help are drinking enough water and eating healthfully.
