I'm 27 and have noticed since my daughter was born that I am getting fine lines around my eyes, mouth and forehead. Any suggestions on a good moisturizer that will help with the lines? Not sure (since I think I'm pretty young) what to use because I never had this problem before!!!!!!! I think not getting any sleep and stress has finally caught up to me.

make sure your moisturizer has sunscreen in it too. Check the Environmental Working Group cosmetics database for ratings based on the ingredients to help you find a good product that is not harmful.

Yep, motherhood will do that to you! I will be 31 tommorrow and I still remember the day that I looked in the mirror and noticed some wrinkles and gray hair! I screamed when I was in the bathroom and my husband came running in yelling "what is wrong!" That was when I was 28! I use Neutragena light moisterizer, I like it cuz it's not real heavy and greasy. Oh, by the way, I have a 6 year old son and 18 month son, and the wrinkles and grey just keep coming!

Are you drinking enough water? It's important to moisturize from within as well as from the outside.

I've used lots of stuff, but mostly Olay products. Now that I sell Shaklee, I'm using their products which are paraben-free.

No wrinkles so far and I'm 45. Of course now that I said it, they will probably show up tomorrow. :-)

I am a mother of 3 and I can tell you I have tried EVERYTHING...expensive products, inexpensive products, natural, and un-natural (lol), but I read this once in beauty secrets book and it has totally worked for me. Of course, it's not like botox, but preparation-H has worked as a night moisturizer around my eyes and forehead. I know it sounds crazy, but try it and see what you think. At $3 a tube, it is definitely economical!

Shaklee's Enfuselle skin care products are great. Instant Firming Serum does wonders for minimizing fine wrinkles. Also, the AM and PM Repair lotions are loaded with the antioxidant vitamins C and E. Check out www.shaklee.net/cpeterson.

Welcome to the motherhood club! Of course, my first gray hairs came as a result of motherhood AND being a junior high teacher, but I digress. I have been using Oil of Olay with SPF for years, drink 64 oz. at least of water a day. Going on 35, I still get carded, so it must be working!

Any moisturizer with retinol is good at night. During the day, use SPF and also something with antioxidants in it. Avon is a good brand to try. The products are reasonably priced. Most importantly though, stay out of the sun!

Hi A.,

Lack of sleep and not getting enough rest can show signs of aging early. As an esthetician in training, I can tell you that there's no magic cream out there that would make your lines go away!! First start with sleeping as much as you can. Try to take naps when your baby naps, or even lay down in the couch and rest. You will see that you'll feel refereshed after that. Drink a lot of water daily, and use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type, an eye cream and sunscreen daily. I wouldn't start using heavy anti aging cream on your face because they are highly concentrated and can clogg your pores. If you can afford a facial, go for it, the exfoliant and the massage will help your skin rejuvenate.

Hi A.,
I'm the mom of a 2 1/2 yr old and I am 33. I did notice that I'm gettin the lines, however I am older, I believe the most important thing is to get proper rest if your child lets you. Sleep does wonders for the mind and skin. Be sure to drink plenty of water as well. Our bodies are made up of mostly water, so it makes sense to be hydrated, especially if you are nursing. Your diet plays in to it as well. We are what we eat.
I use oil of olay line reducer, but I think all that is just a ploy to take your money. lol This advice is coming from a mom that has a kid that wouldn't sleep through the night until she was 1ish. ugh and no naps after one year old. so it's taking it's toll.
Good luck hun!

I have no advice for you, but I think we're supposed to embrace this. The time during which I was pregnant I was so stressed about being stressed (pregnancy, working, lack of sleep,) that I developed the vertical wrinkle in between my eyebrows. NOW, I know my eyes are developing more things - but it's from smiling all the time and making my baby smile, too! Enjoy!!

Sweetheart, you shoulda started years ago! But, better late than never!

I used Clinique for twenty years (20-40) then switched to Neutragena. Why not check out a Dermie for some advice and samples? You really need to use what is best for your skin, but anything w/ moisturizers(not oil) can be good. Drink LOTS of water, stay out of the sun and always use a sunscreen. Welcome to older age....it only gets better!! :) xo

I become a Mary Kay consultant because my concerns were the same as yours. I'm 31 now with two kids under three, and people say I look just like I did in High School, so I think the products are doing their job. Did you know Mary Kary is about 1/3 of the price of Clinique products? (Clinique is one of the less expensive of the department store brands) It's also the best selling skincare line in the country, and for good reason!
You can try out Mary Kay and there's 100% money back guarantee!
The Timewise line is unbelievable. You can meet with me, call me, or just order online and try it out. I'd be happy to give you a complimentary mini facial.

To all the Moms out there concerned about aging....great suggestions for rest, water, mosturizers. BUT (big BUT), motherhood doesn't cause aging, getting older does. I became a mom at 30 and again at 33 and didin't really start aging till about 8-9 years later. Motherhood didn't do it, getting older did.

I know quite a few 30-somethings who do not have kids who look as old as others (moms and not moms) who are 10+ years older. Also, please don't obsess about getting older. Do reasonable things to keep your whole self healthy, but don't go overboard. Our society is way to concerned about how people look. Just look at what Jessica Simpson is going through. I've never been a fan of hers, but people are calling her fat -- please!!

A.,

I actually use a couple things. First, a good facial cleanser will help rid the pores of makeup etc. I use Oil of Olay Pore refining scrub. Its amazing!
Then, I use an eye cream, just a little right around the eyes to reduce puffiness, its by Mary Kay's timewise collection, i believe its called. Then my all over moisturizer is Loreal advanced revitalift. I am fortunate to have at least good SKIN genes from my family (the rest are horrible!), but when those fine lines, dark circles etc. started creeping up, these things reduced and ELIMINATED them so my skin looks flawless.
Give it a shot! And congratulations on your baby...

I agree about Arbonne! I also am a consultant and feel that the way to go is natural, botanically based and vegan products. Our skincare lines, especially the RE9 is fabulous. The RE9 eye cream can help.

On another note, exercise, meditation, drinking lots of water can help too! Call me if you want to try the full size set at home for a number of days. ###-###-####

Arbonne RE-9 anti aging system has done WONDERS for me. You will tell the difference in your skin the three days!! If you would like a sample, I would be happy to send you one. ____@____.com. I have also heard Mary Kay TimeWise is a good product, but it breaks my face out. Everyone's skin is different so you need to try it to find what works for you. Both Arbonne and MaryKay have a money back policy. Good Luck!

Not to worry, it's probably only temporary. But I can definitely relate. I was 37 when I had my son and my skin looked terrible afterward. Color, texture, wrinkles, pimples...it was all bad. I chalked it up to lack of sleep, dehydration (from breast feeding),lack of time to take care of my skin and hormones (due to pregnancy and breastfeeding). So here are a few suggestions. Try to catch up on your sleep. Nap when baby naps, go to bed earlier, etc. Hydrate, both your body and your skin. Drink lots of fluids and moisturize. Dr. Haushka is a great skincare line. I swear their "Normalizing Day Oil" is the nectar of the gods. The Rose Day Cream is also great. Last but not least, put some time aside at the beginning and end of each day to take care of yourself. Even if it's just 5 minutes (which I know can be difficult with a little baby). I realized that I needed to do this when I stopped to think that I wasn't even taking off my make-up before bed!

Take care, and good luck!

Welcome to the "club". Stress has soooo much to do with our skin and unfortunately it shows on us. Do you take vitamins, drink lots of purified water and use products without alcohol in them? Alcohol will dry your skin out even more!

You not only need a good moisturizer with SPF in it, but you need a good cleanser as well. Bad ones will strip your skin of precious oils that we need and ruin the pH acid mantel. I know a lot about skincare and have learned about key ingredients that really help "FEED" your skin. You need botanically based products that are made from whole foods because your skin is an organ - the largest one you have and it's on the outside!

I'd be happy to provide information on the line that I use that is also 100% guaranteed! It's amazing and is so good for you. Plus vitamins are essential and I know they will help you with sleep and keep your energy level up. I've got 3 of them and work so I need all I can get. I'd be happy to help you so just give me your email and I'll attach photos, etc.

We can reverse the signs of aging and actually slow them down! No chemicals, harsh peels, etc. It is possible and I'd love to share my secret!! Get some rest and eat good too, ok?

I see that a lot of people are recommending moisturizer, but no one has mentioned that it should be at least an SPF 30. My cousin works in a women's health office and that is what they tell all of their clients. My other thought is wearing a foundation ovevr that, if you do not already. These things protect our skin from the sun and free radicals in our environment. I use a combo of Olay and Shaklee products. What you put on the inside is also important, but remember, your daughter thinks you have the most beautiful face around. : )
