Used Appliances

Hi, I would like your opinion about whether it's strange to sell an LG gas stove/oven combo? We've had it for a few years and it's a good unit, but we are getting our kitchen redone and will need a different size. Just wondering if anyone's ever bought used appliances?

What can I do next?

Not strange! Friend has a dishwasher they bought off a classified ad. Just be upfront about it and price fairly. If you don't find a buyer, contact Habitat for Humanity. Maybe one of their homes or stores will take it.

I think its just $mart to buy used applances. You get a big discount and usually a good appliance. I only buy new if the new is a scratch and dent or there are no good used appliances available.

Good luck to you and yours.

We remodeled our kitchen in our last house, and as a result ended up selling our cooktop and double ovens. They were in good condition, and we had no trouble selling them. We advertised on Craigslist and both pieces went to very happy homes! :)

I've never purchased a used appliance personally, but I do see them for sale on Craigslist all the time and most of the time the ads indicate that the seller is re-doing their kitchen. I don't think it's strange at all.

Sell it on craigslist!! Last year we remodeled our whole kitchen. One day, i took all the stuff off the counters and took some pictures, and put the whole kitchen on craigslist, and someone bought my whole kitchen, and it only took 2 days!! You never know what people are looking for, and if people need something and can't afford new, they look to craigslist!! I know lots of people that have bought used stuff. I have, just not appliances. Good luck!!

When my father was alive and active I bought used appliances when a scratch and dent wasn't available. He had an appliance repair shop and sold used appliances with a 90 day guarantee. He would come to visit and we'd go shopping. Because he was a repairman he felt that he could spot the ones not worth buying.

If you don't sell it by yourself, I suggest you find a shop that sells used appliances and ask if you could sell it thru them. either on consignment or they buy it outright.

I've bought a used washer, dryer and stove/oven combo. There is nothing strange about it. People appreciate being able to find necessary appliances at discounted prices. A lot of us don't care that it's brand new, just that it works!

I would sell it on Craigslist. There are many people that can't afford a new stove so to get one slightly used is a good deal. As long as everything is in working order then why wouldn't you sell it or donate it to someone in need.

I have sold a few appliances on Craigslist. I have also donated some to my sister’s friend whose house burnt down.

You should have no problem selling it. Clean it up and run an ad in the paper. OR you may have a store in your area that sells used appliances that will come and pick it up from you.... they will pay a little less so they can make a profit reselling it.

Personally, I have never purchased a used appliance, but do know others who have. In our area there is a large demand for used appliances is good shape at a reasonable cost.
