ok.. so i am very curious about something and would like your thoughts and opinions. I had a very interesting conversation with a friend who is from the UK about the Royal Baby. I know the British support the British monarchy and are all about The Royals but this particular person said she is sick and tired of hearing of the Royal Baby but that is not the interesting part... the interesting part goes like this. She said that The Royal Family MADE SURE that Will and Kate's baby was a boy. What????? How in the world does that happen? What, are they that powerful that they had a talk with God and said "YOU MAKE SURE HE IS A BOY". I mean, other than selective fertilization how does this happen? I just have to laugh about it because i cannot wrap my head around it. I asked specifically how does one make that happen. She told me that a lot of it had to do with diet before conception. Certain supplements before conception.... I dont get it?? Im still chuckling about this. What do you think?

Oh and i forgot to add that we also talked about the next King and Queen and she said that Queen E II will make sure that Charles and Camilla ARE NOT the next King and Queen, more than likely it will go to Will and Kate?? very interesting!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

@Flaming Turnip, yes she just might be crazy! I was laughing the whole time she was telling me the story. And yes I do know that there is a 50/50 chance of having boy or girl... I just couldnt believe the story she was telling.
@CoMoMom.. Justin Bieber gets on my nerves! Cant stand that kid! I never thought of Charles making a deal with his mom to marry that cow face Camilla! And yes i know not all British are in support of the monarch but i am sure there is a good majority that are. I just wanted to see what you all thought of it.

Selective invitro does happen, but I don't think they did that. The queen even changed the rules around, if they had a girl. It's funny, because I've not met anyone from the UK that LIKES the royal family. Some are more open to this couple, but most are just plain sick of them. I wonder if it's like that in most of the UK?

As for me, I couldn't care less about all the royal nonsense.

Sounds like your English friend has the real low-down insider scientific scoop! I know for a fact that Beyonce and Jay Z used technology and diet and the FBI and the NSA to engineer a girl. Know how I know? I'm American!

For someone sick of the royals, she's putting a lot of thought into this :)

Why didn't you ask them how they pulled that off?

Well, there are many Brits who are also rather fed-up with the monarchy and the fact that they are supported on taxpayer dollars as well. I suppose it's just as much a celebrity fair as Hollywood is. Think about all the icky coverage of the pregnancies of some of the most banal personalities we have here and then just take it up a notch by presuming EVERYONE cares at all.

My guess is that unless they were timing ovulation and sex...which would be a whole lot of meddling with someone else's gynecological business.... the Royals likely didn't have as much impact on gender as your friend expects. I think the diet thing is a big question mark as one family member of mine did it both times when they were trying and during the pregnancy and did not get the 'tried for' gender.

Poor Charles never stood a chance. He loves a woman that people just pick apart. I feel a bit bad for them both, but good on them for just going ahead with being in love at last. I do think that unless he suddenly succumbs to poor health, hopefully he'll have at least a short reign. I can't imagine the scandal it would cause if Queen Elizabeth the Second completely passed him up.

ETA: so Charles had to concede to no king-dom if he married Camilla? That is strange, as I read an article in the Guardian from last year which mentioned the possibility of his becoming king, but only for a short while. This from British Royal Family History:

"Could the Queen choose to pass the throne directly to Prince William?
The Queen cannot choose. Prince Charles as her eldest son and Prince of Wales is next in line to the throne and will become King as long as he is living when the Queen dies or should she abdicate. It would require a change to British constitutional law for this not to happen."

The law is the law!

I believe I read something awhile back about Charles giving up his claims to the throne so he could marry what's her face, so that would make William the next in line anyways. And for this one, I read that they changed the rules before Kate gave birth so that regardless of gender the first born child becomes the next queen or king, so if this one was a girl she wouldn't be jumped in line from a subsequent son. Seems they wouldn't have bothered if they knew it was a boy.

I have to chuckle at anyone who thinks you can so easily pick the gender of your kid, it'd be a million dollar industry-want a boy, take this pill before you do it!

Meh.. sounds like wishful thinking to me. I seem to recall talk of them changing the rules of the monarchy (when it was just rumors that she was pregnant) so that any child (male OR female) would be able to assume the title. So, probably they did do all that stuff (whatever is alleged), but it by no means makes it the reason she gave birth to a boy baby.

I also think there are tons of wives tales about ensuring how to have a boy or girl, but I don't think there is any validity to them, otherwise it would be proved to work and everyone who was interested would know, right?

well, even if they had a talk with God..... God is not who determines the sex of a baby.

There have been many articles and sources who said that Charles made a deal with the Queen that he would abdicate in order to marry Camilla. That sounds reasonable, but who knows?

Naysayers are everywhere and conspiracy theorists are second to religious zelots in my opinion. Each to their own, I guess.

I would say that the English are sick of the Royals like we Americans are sick of Justin Beiber. It just proves that no matter where you are... you don't like what ya got.

"How to Choose the Sex of Your Baby" by Landrum Shettles, MD, PhD

Call me crazy if you will, but we followed this to the T for both of our children and got boys both times. Exactly what we were trying for. My OB laughed at me the first time, but the second time, she was intrigued.

Ovulation cycles, timing of intercourse, position, even diet to a limited extent, have been shown to INCREASE the odds of conceiving one sex or the other. But not guarantee, certainly. And everything in this book has been scientifically researched. The book itself is written by a fertility researcher.

Anyway, short of selective fertilization, this seemed to work well for us.

One last thing. We are Christian and don't think for a minute that we believe we could have changed anything that God didn't want. :-) Ultimately, we prayed for healthy babies both times, but also believed that God helps those that help themselves. ;-) We wound up with two terrific, healthy boys and thank God for them both!

Whether they attempted to plan it or not (as was mentioned below how to do so, which actually worked in our household :), the queen had already changed the line of succession rules (which hadn't been done in 300 years) prior to the baby being born so that if they had indeed had a girl, their first born would become monarch, rather than skipping her for any successive male children being born.

Yeah, I wouldn't take much stock in what your friend said about them making sure it was a boy.

I really believe Queen Elizabeth will abdicate before her death and pass the monarchy directly to Will and Kate.

I'd say about 50% of Britons want the monarchy done away with. They're tired of paying taxes to support the royals.

I haven't read the other responses, but I have absolutely no interest in the royal baby or his parents. I could be the only one. :-)

However, I don't really believe you can do much in pre-pregnancy to plan or pre determine the sex of a baby. It's wishful thinking.

They are my and my country's Royal Family. The Queen has not abdicated because she is going for the record length of reign - she wants to surpass Queen Victoria's 63 years. Once she has made the record then she will probably abdicate so that Charles will be King. He can be King despite marrying Camilla.

The British Parliament passed an act to ensure that the baby, whether it be a girl or boy would be the next in line to the throne after William. Gender no longer comes into it.

Your friend is a nutbag.
