my first son was never bothered by teething but my 6 1/2 month old seems very bothered by teething, at least I'm guessing that is what it is. He has the obvious signs like I can see teeth about to POP through, he's chomping on everything and drooling! But I'm wondering if the crying out bursts, general fussiness, poor eating is also to blame. He is typically the most happy smiling baby until this past week. Is this was teething can be like for babies? Also, please share your favorite teething remedies!! Has anyone tried those Amber necklaces that have anageslic (sp?) properties to help w/ teething? What did u think? And how are they not considered a choking hazard?

We used an amber teething necklace. It isn't a choking hazard bc they wear them, they don't chew on them. I guess it worked but it's hard to tell. We used that and a homeopathic remedy. My DD never had any tylenol or motrin and seemed to be made comfortable. So I always do recommend it as worth a try.
With both my children, we used a mesh feeding ring (I don't know if they still sell them as my girls are 7 and 11 years old now). We found them at Babies - R - Us and they worked wonders! It's just a cloth mesh ring that you can fill with anything you'd like. We usually used frozen banannas. It's not a choking hazard because the mesh purees the food as it thaws and is pushed out from the bag as your baby chews.
The best "medication" we have found are the homeopathic teething tablets by Hyland's.
We bought the Amber necklace from Amazon and LOVE it! I don't care if that's the reason our son has been happier or not, but he's happier with it on! He's now 17 months old and getting a bunch of molars, and we don't go a single day or night without that necklace on. One night I forgot to put it back on after bathtime, and he slept horribly. Coincidence? Don't know, don't care. Put the necklace back on the next night and all was good. When he was younger, we put the necklace on his ankle at nighttime to avoid choking. Good luck!
