Teething...

Looks like people told you about Hylands. They offer a "Kids Kit" that has remedies for many things (not just teething). These are homeopathic remedies. The kit made me interested in homeopathics and now I treat myself and my whole family quite often (fevers, teething, headaches, colds, stomach flus, bad falls/bruising, etc.)

Hyland's Teething Tabs are homeopathic and can be found at Walmart and Target or natural food stores. They worked wonders for us.

There is a really good homeopathic teething formula - available at most health food or herb stores. I can't remember the name off the top of my head but these little tablets dissolve almost instantly and relieve the teething pain for several hours.

Several suggestions... there is the obvious motrin because it helps with the swelling. Then there are the homeopathic teething tablets that you can get at wal-mart or target, these always seem to make my girls happy. And you don't have to worry about giving a little of it to them if you are not totally sure if they are teething, because its homeopathic. One option that kills 2 birds with one stone is keeping a little toothbrush in a glass of water in the fridge. Let him chew on the toothbrush to sooth his gums and this also gets him used to having a toothbrush in his mouth and he is less likely to resist when you start brushing his teeth. Good luck!

I kept a damp wash cloth in the freezer for a while and then let him chew on it. It seemed to help.

Read labels on the herbal teething remedies closely. I read a few labels, and found some with "Belladonna" in them. I admit, not a lot, but not something I would not put in my baby's mouth.

I've heard good things about oil of cloves, too, but never used it.

With my 4 kids I've always taken a washcloth and wet one half of it and put it in the freezer,. I usually did about 2 or 3, that way they could hold on to one end without freezing their little hands and could chew on the other end. All 4 of my kids broke their teeth though with the washcloth. It also was nice cause as they drooled the washcloth soaked up alot as well! I did use a little ibruprofen as needed, the kids' pediatrecian always told me to use that instead of tylenol since you can't overdose them on ibruprofen and you can on tylenol. I hope this helps A. My son had two teeth at 5 months and it was awful. It helped when I used Tylenol around the clock for a few days and I also put ice cubes or something cold in a sock and let him suck on the sock. I usually had to hold it in his mouth but it made him feel better!

The homeopathic teething tablets work like a champ! We did 2 every 6 hours like that bottle says. We did that for a few days and now we just give him one when he's hurting because he's gotten used to teething.

My little guy was teething early and didn't want ice, teething rings, washcloths. (And didn't take a pacifier) I gave him a fourth of a frozen waffle and he liked gnawing on that. Kinda messy, but worth a try!

The easy remidy is to have them suck on a bag of frozen peas. They have the texture that the kids need to massage the gums and they usually can't bite through the bag. It worked really well with mine.

We use one of those mesh teething bags by "Sassy" that you can get at target etc. I freeze apple sauce or pear sauce in ice cube trays and put the frozen cubes in the bag for him to suck on. If your guy is not eating yet I have also put plain ice cubes in the bag (our son didn't get teeth until he was 8 months old). It really seems to help with the discomfort and the bag locks so you don't have to worry about choking. We have also used the "Hylands" homeopathic teething tablets. Sometimes they do the trick, sometimes not.

The ONLY thing that worked for us was a frozen teething ring or frozen otter pop. Don't worry though. It won't last forever.

Humphrey's 3 tablets have been a life saver for me. I used them with my now 3 year old, he got his teeth the same time yours did. They work really well and are all natural. They usually don't want to use Ibprofin (Sp) until the child is at least a year old. Good luck I know this can be a trying time.

Hylands brand of teething tablets worked great for my kids & they are natural. :)

I rubbed clove oil on my daughters gums and though they hated the taste, it was only seconds before it numbed their gums, safely and with no medicinal side effects. You can try it on yourself and really feel how it works. You can find clove oil at the co-op or the herb store and probably at whole foods.

This is an old wives tail that works. A whole cold dill pickle, it is cold and soothing and the dill is a astrengent (spelling?)that helps break the tooth threw faster. Be carful that your son does not choke on the small chunks. I broke all my kids teeth threw with this and break out the camera for the fun facial expressions. Also a frozen wash cloth is helpfull.

Homeopathic teething tablets like a few of the moms recommend!

I bought one of those mesh containers that looks kind of like a pacifier, that most people put food in. I used it for ice and my son LOVED it while he was teething.

I use Hylands Teething Tablets, a small, white, homeopathic pill that dissolves quickly and has virtually no flavor (good or bad). It's all natural, and worked well for my kids w/o having to use the cream that my kids personally hated.
