Taxi Rides with an Infant?

This is probably a stupid question, but I've never seen anyone doing it. When you travel with your infant to a city, like Chicago where the major transportation is a taxi, do you take your car seat and use it in the taxi? I'm planning on taking my little ones for the first time to Chicago with my hubby for a business trip and we never rent a car but just use taxis while we're there. Thanks for any input.

The infant carrier will go in and out of taxis just fine (we've done that with no problem), but your toddler/booster might be a different story. If it's one of those small, backless boosters, shouldn't be much hassle, but what will you do with it once you're at a destination? Carry it around the museum with you? Will it fit in your stroller basket?

C. - I have the same question! We are flying to Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise in January. We will be arriving a day early and not renting a car. I imagine at some point we'll take a cab - maybe to go to dinner or something.

I certainly don't need it on the cruise ship.

My kiddo is now just 18 months and her car seat is huge. It would be a pain to take it just for short cab rides.

Yes you should take your car seats with ya. I know that when we traveled by plane to NY we still took our car seats. When we used the shuttle to go to the car rental place we used the car seat. Its better to be safe!

When I traveled in a taxi with my daughter, she was 11 months old and I just held her. We've done short taxi rides from the airport and we've used her car seat at those times since we had them on us. Since your daughter is 4 months old, I would assume you'll be taking a stroller for her and will most likely want the infant carrier for her to sit/lay in?

Have fun and good luck!
