My baby is almost 2 month and she has been having a stinky weird smell coming from the top of her head. It's CLEAN so it's not because she hasn't had a bath recently. this smell has been there since she was about 4 or 5 days old. I can wash her hair with shampoo and dry her off and you can already smell it again. I don't know if she just has naturally oily hair and it smells soon after baths or if it's a bigger issue. Has anyone heard of this? it smells like dirty hair that has not been washed in weeks... but she gets a bath and shampoo every 2 days now. My other daughter never had this issue. ALSO, it's just the soft spot area that smells. the rest of her head does not have that smell.
Check to see if your daughter has cradle cap. I didn't notice it on my daughter except when I washed her hair. It looked like a film on her scalp and forehead. I had to scrub her scalp to remove it, but I've heard that putting a little olive oil on the baby's scalp when make it peel off in sheets. (her's never did, and it sounds gross, but the olive oil did help it go away quickly.)
I think you should take her to the doctors. It could be an infection or anything. Probably a fungal infection, but a good doctor would know. Not all fungal infections are visible to the naked eye.
cradle cap maybe? rub scalp with olive oil before bath time to soften up the skin and give her a good washing.... sounds pretty weird... good luck.
