Pregnant Again, 4 Weeks After Miscarriage

I had a miscarriage on May 31. A week later, the doc did a test and it was negative, so the miscarriage was complete. He had told us to wait until I had one cycle to try again, and we've only had sex twice since then, but I guess we had the money shot, because I tested today and it was positive. I'm pretty sure that I concieved on June 13th, which would make me exactly 4 weeks along. Has anyone gotten pregnant so soon after a miscarriage, and what was the outcome? I'm nervous it's gonna happen again.

What can I do next?

They say you're pretty fertile right after a miscarriage, just like after you give birth. My best friend had several miscarriages, and then right after she lost the last one, she got pregnant again and had a flawless pregnancy. and then right after she gave birth, got pregnant again and same thing. now the girls are 3 &2. good luck!!

Hi Bethany,

I had a very early miscarriage, and got pregnant about 2 weeks later. I now have a healthy 11 month old son. Prior to my early miscarriage, I also lost twins at 20 weeks, so I really started to doubt that I could carry a child ever again.

When I was pregnant with my son, every symptom had me running to my Doctor, who assured me that everything was fine, and it was. I spent the whole pregnancy so worried, actually afraid. I told myself that if I could just get to 30 weeks, I wouldn't be scared, and when that came and went, I still was afraid that I would lose my baby. I carried him to 38 weeks, and gave birth without intervention, and I believe he has been my healthiest child.

Don't worry. I know that is so much easier said than done. Sometimes though, we spend so much time worrying about tomorrow that we forget to take a moment and enjoy carrying our children right here, right now. Everything will happen just as it should. :-)

mine was 3 months after the miscarriage and I have a very rambunctious all boy 2 yr old. who likes to scream. :) but in reality do you know what caused your first one? mine was a uti, bladder infec, and kidney infect. go to the doc and make sure you are clear of all infections. ask your ob if he knows what caused the first so you can avoid the second one. good luck and relax. stressing about what may not happen is not good for the baby.

Yes, I miscarried my first pregnancy, and was pg again within the month. Second pregnancy resulted in my beautiful, healthy 2.5 year old daughter. Nothing to worry about. Congratulations! =)

Girl
That was me too! I miscarried and was pregnant very soon afterwards. I had a D&C and when he was releasing me 6 weeks later, I believe I was already 2 weeks along and was back in his office two weeks later showing to be a month along. The doctor told me to not worry, he would do the worrying. I did have frequent appointments and extra sonos, but she is perfect and now 5 (and a half---if you ask her). The pregnancy was flawless and textbook. It is hard to not worry about it, but I just heard on the news or somewhere that it actually is more okay to get pregnant soon after a miscarriage than originally thought. I did not hear the entire story but found that interesting. Odds are all will be fine. Relax, enjoy this pregnancy. More than likely your doc will label you HIGH RISK and take extra precautions.

I had a similar experience. I had a DNC when I was 12 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me that I needed to wait until my next cycle to try again. The DNC was on 20Dec and we conceived on 24Jan. I delivered a healthy boy and girl on 27Sep. They will be 8 years old this September. The only problem I experienced was gestational diabetes. However, I was diabetic with my first child too, so I really don;t consider it a problem. The pregnancy was very uneventful. They were 5 weeks early, but my first daughter was 3 weeks early. I guess I was just not designed to carry a baby 40 weeks. They were a healthy 5lbs 8oz and 6lbs 13oz at 35 weeks gestation. Congrats and enjoy your pregnancy.

I had a miscarriage in April of 2008 and counted it as my period. The very next month I got pregnant again. I have a very happy and healthy 17 month old boy napping on my chest right now. Congrats and I wish you a happy and healthy 9 months!

I had an early miscarriage several years ago, about 6 weeks after I stopped taking the pill. I didn't realize that's what it was at first - I assumed the bleeding had something to do with getting off the pill - so I didn't go to the doctor for a couple of weeks. I ended up getting pregnant about 3 weeks later. My son is now 6 years old and my pregnancy was completely normal. Best wishes to you!

I had the same thing happen. And when I got pregnant right after a miscarriage, I got pregnant with twins!! And t ins do not run in either one of our families. The twins pregnancy was perfect. Good luck to you. Remember, have faith and trust in what God has in store for you. I about died when I found out it was twins, but they have been an awesome blessing to us.
