The counting method is the least effective form of birth control known. Natural methods such as the counting method or FAM are only 77-88% effective. My aunt had 13 children using the counting method, which is why everyone laughed at her still believing in it. The only way to be sure you're not pregant is to take one of those at home pregancy tests.

It's entirely possible to get pregnant on the last day of your period. I got pregnant with twins, 8 years ago, on that day! The only day that month we didn't use protection. However, when doctors and others say that it's likely to get pregnant right after having a baby they mean within the first several weeks. Not 5 months later. I can atest to that as well because I got pregnant less then 2 months after having my third child.
Just take a test as soon as you can. It's the only way you will know for sure.

Your not pregnant just nervous that you might be cause you just had a baby the chances of you being pregnant r slim to none I practice the natural family planning method which goes by monitoring your discharge there are only a few days out of the month you can get pregnant when the discharge is stretchable and mucusy that means u r ovulating usually after your period your very dry so the chances of getting pregnant r very slim though anything is possible but you'll have to wait a month to see.
Take care

Rose,

I suppose anything is possible, but unless you're ovulating twice in one month, I don't see how you're getting pregnant on the last day of your period would be possible.

If you're really worried about it, pick up one of those Home Pregancy Tests, and see what that tells you...

Since you just had your baby 5 months ago, it's possible that your hormones are still all screwed up, and that may be what is causing your symptoms, rather than you're being pregnant!

Rose,
As another mom mentioned, it is entirely possible to get pregnant from having sex any time in your cycle- whether actually on your period or not. Every woman ovulates at different times as she said- I am proof positive. My mother in law told me for years I should use the rhythm method for birth control and if I did I would have even more than 4 kids! Every one of my children were naturally born 10 days off from the due date and we KNEW when they were conceived. A doc said if I was curious I could track my ovulation and I did- sure enough- I ovulate at a time when most women should be able to have sex the safest- over a week off the normal range for most women.
If you did not get pregnant before, for one thing, you were just lucky. For another, different things can throw your cycle off- the women you are around at work even can make a difference as well as changes since childbirth.
As another mom mentioned- there is only one way to make sure you do not get pregnant (my answer is slightly different though- Don't have sex! lol) but if you would like to attempt to control the situation- use birth control EVERY time faithfully- and know that those can and DO fail regularly... my daughter was conceived while I was breast feeding my first child (no pacifiers etc), and on the mini pill and we used spermicide as well. Breast feeding plus the mini pill are supposed to be one of the most accurate forms of birth control and I still got pregnant!
As the others said, go pick up a PG test and best of luck to you!

Hi Rose,
It's possible (not really likely though). If you are more than 2 weeks past when you think you conceived, then take a pregnancy test. Quite honestly, if you do not want to get pregnant, you should not have unprotected sex, simple as that. There are many options for contraception.
Good luck

Are you breastfeeding at all?
I got pregnant right away after I stopped breastfeeding.
The best way to find out for sure is to wait a couple of weeks and get a pregnancy test.

It is entirely possible that you are pregnant, but you'll have to wait to take the test. Sperm can live in your body for up to a week. That's how I got pregnant the first time. I thought we were safe, but those little swimmers just kept going, slow and steady!

Good luck and if it happens, it's meant to be.
