I bet you'll hear from others that this happened to me and them too. I felt great for 95% of the time with #1. With #2, I was sick at my stomach the majority of the time. I think this is very common. Lots of saltine crackers and I could eat fruit just fine. Good luck and congratulations!

I had a terrible with this too! I'm so sorry for you! Everyone had good suggestions but things that made them feel better made me sick. For instance the thought of peppermint made me throw up. This is what I did.
I would think of something, like lemon, if it made me feel worse, I'd think of something else like toast etc. eventually you will think of something that you'll want to try. sometimes it works. You do need to get fluid in though and if you cant keep anything down you'll have to call the dr for medicine before you need to grt an I.V. With one pregnancy all I could drink was Pepsi. I dont even drink soda normally and felt like my baby would be sick or malnourished but he was fine and it got me through the tough time.
Hang in there! It usually means the baby is doing well and usually only lasts the first four months. hope you feel better.

Call your dr! They can prescribe a medication for this that should help for at least most of the day. That way, you can get some nutrition for yourself and the baby. If you can't drink anything either, you will get dehydrated in a very short amount of time. I don't know how long this has been going on, but if it's been for awhile, and you really haven't had a thing to eat or drink, you might consider going to the ER for an IV just to get some fluids in. I know dehydration makes you feel even sicker; it's a vicious cycle. Good luck!!

I found cranberry juice helped with the nausea this time... also the heartburn. I also drank crystal light ice tea, which helped... frozen grapes helped with my first, and watermelon...
Good luck! Hope you feel better soon!

Go to doc and get anti nausea pills. trust me, I went through 2 pregnancies without the aid of it. I was stupid LOL If you cant hold anything down then you need stronger meds. Also be careful to not get dehydrated and if you do check into the ER and get an IV. My little sister with her 2nd kid was in the ER every week for 25 weeks with an iv and on 3 different anti nausea pills. Some just have bad Hyperemesis gravidarum

I agree that you should call your doctor. I've had horrible all day sickness this time around. My doctor first put me on Phenergan but then she prescribed me another that would melt under my tongue so that I wouldn't have to worry about it coming back up. I believe it was called Zofran. It works!! Hope this helps.

Suck on a peppermint....all day....always have them with you. Peppermint is soothing to the stomach. The hard candies have enough sugar to at least keep you from getting dizzy from low blood sugar and you don't have to swallow anything solid.

Also, I know you said you've tried antacids, but did you try the cool peppermint tums? They are fantastic. They helped me a TON when I had prego sickness. The fruit flavors etc.. never helped but the peppermint ones did.

You can also drink peppermint tea to get the peppermint into your stomach. Try doing this before you eat.

Make sure than when you eat it is in VERY small portions. Basically you should be "grazing" all day and on very bland and stomach friendly foods. I found that mashed potatos worked out well for me when preg. Always carry a bottle of cold water with you too and take small sips when you feel the sickness coming on. This can force it back down and soothe your stomach too. If you can use the water to suppress the nausea long enough for it to go away you should be able to keep more foods down.

You could also try the accupressure wrist bands for motion sickness. I found that these helped a bit with my sickness.

Don't forget to brush your teeth as much as you can stand it. All of that acid can eat the enamel right off of them.

Best of luck to you! I hope you find something that works.

Ginger, chamomile tea, lots of water and Zantac or Prilosec. My docs actually told me to take Zantac or Prilosec OTC. Make sure you are taking a good prenatal vitamin.

I have actually read that peppermint can relax the muscles that keep the acid from rising up, so beware of using too much of that.

Best wishes.

Preggie Pops... they are the only thing that got me through my first trimester. They're sour hard candies, all natural. The sour makes you produce more saliva which keeps you swallowing which keeps acid down. I got to the point that I would have to have one before I even thought about a meal because everything I looked at or thought about made me sick. You can get them at Babies R Us or Motherhood Maternity.
Also, ask your doctor about Fennegan for the nausea and Protonics for the acid. I took the Protonics until my third trimester because it heals any damage to your digestive track and suppresses any extra acid your body may be producing.

Good luck! And know that this too shall pass... somedays that's all that got me through :)

I had awful morning sickenss - 24 hour a day nausea - in both my pregnancies until 12 and 16 weeks respectively. I am sorry about how you feel. I tied it all - seasick wrist bands, candied ginger, etc. The one thing I didn't try and wish I had was acupuncture - I hear it is really a miricle for some people. Try to eat small light meals frequently and drink lightly carbonated clear liquides like seltzer and ginger ale.

For my second pregnancy, I actually got antinausea medication. It was the only thing tha thelped me get up in the morning and care for a three year old and get to work. I think this is an absolutely last resort, but it is a option to keep in mind. It haas risks - mine was designed for chemo patients - and it was very expensive. I took it as little as possible and it only sort of took the edge off.

Think of it this way - I always heard morning sickness meant a healthy pregnancy and perhaps a girl (I had two!).

With BOTH my pregnancies... I had BAD morning sickness, throwing up, AND migraines all day/night. Every day. It was awful.
The ONLY thing that helped me... was Acupuncture. Which, my OB/GYN recommended.
Only 1 half hour session, was all it took.
It does not hurt and is actually VERY relaxing.
I highly recommend it.

Of course, use an Acupuncturist that handles pregnant women.

all the best,
Susan
