Need Ideas for Hubby's Birthday

The last 3 years since he turned 40 I have not been able to do anything really for his birthday due to illnesses and having a child days before. I want to do something special for him, something that will let him know how much I love him. I am not a very creative person when it comes to this kind of stuff. I think I know what I am getting him present wise, he needs clothes for his new job. Other than that, I am sure I can get our babysitter. That is ALL I have for now and it's the 28th of this month~! EEK If any of you ladies have any ideas or past experiences, please let me know. He always makes me feel so special and I want to do the same for him.
Again, Thanks!

Hmmm. Definitely include sex. It's usually their favorite thing. :D
I've read a few books on what men think are important. Dr. Laura's the proper care and feeding of marriage, and Act like a lady, think like a man by Steve Harvey. I came by both on accident and was pleasantly surprised by both of them. I don't think it really matters what you do on the day...like a nice getaway or having family take your kids to turn your house into a little "getaway", so much as the time leading up to it. I would start prepping him to feel special.
Harvey says there are 3 ways a man feels love from his woman: Support, loyalty and "the cookie".
If I were you I'd try and start having sex every day or every other day. Just start jumping him. ( or more)... if you aren't having a this much sex right now, in a few days, when he realizes it's not fleeting, he's gonna start strutting around like a peacock. And with young kids it can be hard to find a second, but it doesn't have to be long or drawn out, and it can be all the hotter if you "don't have much time."
Then just leave him little notes everywhere ( or just tell him) about what a great provider he is or how well he takes care of his family's emotional, physical and spiritual needs.(satisfies his support need) and how you wouldn't want anyone else- even if you could have them(loyalty). I started expressing these things to my husband and it's amazing what he does nowadays. But one other thing, when we get around family or friends I just talk about how cool I think he is (I try not to be annoying about it though). My sister in law will criticize her husband when people are around, and she's not a "bad" wife or anything, but you can tell it gets to him. I realized I did that a couple years back, before I read the books and tried to do the opposite... and he blossomed.
Also figure out his love language and go with that too.

Hi H.,

I have a feeling I know what he might love for his birthday, especially if you are a busy mommy and he is a busy daddy!

Try http://www.pamperedpassions.com. Even if its something conservative with a little lace, he would love to see you in something pretty!

If you are here in Colorado, the store is at I-25 & COunty Line Rd just across from Park Meadows Mall. They are "kid friendly:)"

It sure would be a nice gift for the both of you!

My sister planned a surprise party for my dad a few years ago with some old neighbors, and friends - people he hadn't seen in a while. She had a cake specially made for him that had rum truffles on it, those are his favorite. He actually teared up over the cake. We did a slideshow with pictures throughout his life and had a roast - everyone was asked to share an experience they had with him. This did take her several months to plan, so it might just be an idea to save for another year, but he was thrilled.

What about a video, with photos of him from birth to now, special occasions, with you, friend, kids, family. Then interview family and friends. You can put the photos to music and then have areas where people are saying nice things about him. Or you could take him away for a special night, dinner, a movie, get a hotel room. Good luck!

Hi H., I sent cup cakes one time to his work. Somthing that you would usually do for one of your kids but all his employees really enjoyed them. One year I got up made his breakfast and snuck a sign on his back with tape that said, "It's MY Birthday" It took him a while to figure it all out! GL K. K.

Does your husband have a favorite meal you could prepare for him or would he prefer to go out? if you make it at home decorate like you are going to a nice place or have an island theme. If you want the kids there have them dressed up and let them give their dad the "menu". Play music in the background. Or you could send the kids to grandma's and have a dinner in lingerie by candlelight. If you do eat at home with the kids make sure you go somewhere after alone. Does he like concerts, comedy clubs, movies, ice cream hikes? Bumper cars:) Just something fun the two of you can do together.
Serve him breakfast in bed that morning with a nice note full of reasons why you think he is the best (and sexiest) husband and father in the world and include some provocative hints for the evening.
You could make giving his gift into a treasure hunt. You could involve the kids with this one. They would probably love hiding their dad's gift. And you could either help them make clues for him or help them color a treasure map for him.
Does your husband like it when you wear a particular outfit or color, or do your hair a certain way? If so make sure you also let him know you are thinking of him by noticing his preferences.
Good Luck and Have FUN!

My friend does the cutest stuff for her husband. She did the 14 days of valentines with just a little something everyday up to the day and 31 days of halloween you could do the 40 days of how ever old he his to his birthday if you have that long if not just do it for a week. I did the valentines one a few years ago and my husband really liked it.I just left little things every day sometime usually a different place and time everyday. Good luck
