I am looking for a cookbook geared towards babies and toddlers. My son is one (today!) and although he will try almost anything, still prefers purees. I know he'll eat chunkier foods soon, and I want to get a cookbook that will have tons of easy ideas. Thanks for your suggestions!!!

I used First Meals by Annabel Karmel. You can find it on Amazon, First Steps, or any book store. I think you can even preview the book on Amazon.

Super Baby Food by Ruth Yaron. Contains more than 350 quick, easy nutritios recipes for babies and toddlers. It also includes a section on how to make your own cleaning solutions, as well as baby wipes and deodorants. The list of what this book has goes on and on. It breaks down every nutrient that you child will need and what foods you can find them in. There's and arts and crafts section too. Enjoy!

I used First Meals by Annabel Karmel with my kids. I'm not sure if it is still in print (I got mine about 10 years ago, but ordered one on ebay about 3 years ago for my sister in law). Many of the recipes are still my favorites for my entire family. It is a great book for recipes and guidelines on graduating your child into grown-up foods.

We just got our 3 year old daughter for Christmas the Sesame Street cookbook - it's called "C is for Cooking: Recipes from the Street" - it's awesome. There are recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, side dishes, sweets & treats, and different types of smoothies, etc. They're all well balanced/good for you meals. And she loves this book - she pulls it out almost everyday and loves to pick out something to cook. The price is normally around $16.00, but I see now that Amazon.com has it for $11.53. Hope this helps! : )

Months ago I saw a book in at Waldenbooks (also Borders) from Rachael Ray for kids. It was geared toward all ages and had recipes in there for kids to cook themselves but also had some I thought could easily be adapted to toddlers. I totally forgot about it. I am going to go look for it this weekend.

I say feed him what you are eating so you do not turn into a short order cook! My 3 have been eating table food since they were between 10 and 11 mo old.

He may prefer purees but you might be surprised by what your baby will be willing to eat (and looking forward to getting his little fingers on)! He's been eyeing you eating fun-looking stuff for a year now. Give him a taste of what YOU are eating! I bet he ditches purees pretty quickly!

And if you're lucky and keep introducing him to what the rest of the family is eating and don't make him only specially prepared "toddler" meals, you may end up with a NON-PICKY-EATER!.. Some kids just are picky and there's not a durn thing you can do about it, but if you keep trying, you might get an adventurous eater out of the deal!

Good luck! *Sorry, I don't know any baby recipe books because my son is all about what WE are eating, but we may just be lucky!*
