My 6 month old son absolutly hates baby food! I've been practically force feeding him everyday for the past 2 months. We've tried mostly all of the stage one baby foods and after he get 3 to 4 bites he's over it. I breastfeed him and he's a very healthy boy 28 pounds to be exact, but he just won't eat baby food. help!

What can I do next?

my little guy didn't eat either!
I posted here what I did:

I decided to research & found some good info!

cons of pureees: http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,21924...

I am very interested in this (& followed it a bit!):
(by the way, the 'weaning' you see in the links is the 'European' meaning of version meaning starting solids- not meaning stopping breastfeeding. I breastfed both my boys until they were 15 months old)

this is what I do/did.

I read this article which states, as I believe, there is no reason to start foods in any particular order: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9646449/

American Academy of Pediatrics Policy Statement on Breastfeeding
http://aappolicy.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/ped...

I started w/ avocado, banana, sweet potato & pretty much just gave oatmeal or barley cereal sometimes to mix in w/ jarred fruits/veggies (all organic)

I did not introduce proteins until babies are 9 months old- beans, poultry, soy, meat, yogurt, egg yolk, etc

Hi A.,
I made my own baby food. It's not that difficultm especially if you make it in batches and freeze it. Cook and puree...

I found this link on the web, recipes, freezing, etc. And it's a lot healthier too, in my opinion anyway.

I hope this helps

My baby was also very hard to feed when he was eating baby food. After a while he would eat it but he just didn't like being spoon fed. At this point you are okay just giving him a little bit as long as he is still nursing a lot. I found that the problems ended once he was eating finger foods. He started with eggs, bananas, and the gerber fruit and veggie puffs. My son still will not let me spoon feed him or put something in his mouth. He physically has to touch it or he won't let it in his mouth. That's just how he is. You may try to give your son a spoon and let him put it in the food and try to get it in his mouth. Messy, but maybe he'll warm up to it. Good luck

i would strongly advise that you try hard not to force feed him or make eating an issue. if he is hungry he'll eat. sounds like he's pretty healthy. my seven year old only weighs ten pounds more than him. but seriously, dont you find that children that live in the house with older children, often decide they dont want baby food? they see everone else eating regular food and they want to be like everyone else. when my daughter wouldnt eat baby food, i gave her appropriate and safe table food. yogurt, cottage cheese, boiled chicken, pasta, cheerios, rice cakes, etc. ask your pediatrician for suggestions and if he/she tells you that you must get your baby to eat the baby food no matter what.........time to find a new pediatrician. every baby is different. parents and doctors have to be flexible and learn as they go.

My little girl is now 10 and a half months old. I tried baby food at 6 months and found that she wasnt ready for food and her Dr said as long as she was gaining weight with just the nursing not to worry. I would try and give her a jar here and there and nothing but last month we tired again and she is on stage 2 two jars a day. She is doing really well with weight gain 24LBS.
